RUTH DICKERSON

Ruth Hamby Dickerson, 89, of Greenville, died September 22, 2018 at home.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of William Troy Hamby and Lillian Greer Hamby.

She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Randolph (Randy) Dickerson.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Dickerson Cunningham of Greenville; brother Bill Hamby of Mauldin; two grandchildren

She was a homemaker.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, September 26, at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

LOUIE ELLISON

WILLIAMSTON – Louie Harold Ellison, 91, husband of Doris Durant Watkins Ellison, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Joe Perry and Ina Mae Holland Ellison. A U.S. Army veteran, he formerly worked for Harper Construction, and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Gary Ellison (Kathey) of Williamston; grandchildren, Joe A. Ellison and Patrick Ellison (Emily); and great-grandchildren, Layne and Karah Ellison.

He was predeceased by sons, Steve Ellison and Dale Ellison; two brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 27 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, with the service to follow at 2:30 in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church, 1904 Beaverdam Road, Williamston, SC 29697.

BERTHA MAJOR

Bertha Human Major, 85, of Williamston, wife of James Guyton “Jim” Major, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

Born in Franklin County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Janie Willoughby Human. She retired from Anderson School District One and was a member of Williamston First Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Beverly Major Garner  and Beth Major, all of Williamston; sister, Carol Jean King of Columbus, MS; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 27, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Williamston First Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow at 1:30. The burial will be at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

PEGGY ANN ACKER BROOME

Peggy Ann Acker Broome, 80, of Anderson, died on Monday, September 24, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born January 1, 1938 in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late James Ralph Acker and the late Ruby Lee Gilreath Acker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Henry Broome, Jr. Peggy retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brother, Jerry Acker of Charleston, and sister, Linda A. Ellis of Williamston.

The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:30 pm Thursday, September 27 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 12:30 pm. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

NANCY JANE HANNAH

Nancy Jane Hannah, 85, formerly of Belton, died Monday, September 24, 2018 at Ellenburg Nursing Center.

Born in Belton, she was the daughter of the late Furman and Myrtle Hawkins Hannah. She was a member of Belton Church of God.

Surviving are: brother, Milton Hannah of Piedmont; sisters, Faye Hughes of NC and Steva Jacobs of Anderson.

Service will be held 3pm Thursday at Belton Church of God. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.

The family will be at their respective homes. Cox Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
