Williamston Town Council held a brief workshop Tuesday night, to review the agenda for the coming council meeting. Mayor Durham reported that the auditors would present the audit results, which Durham said were favorable.
He also mentioned that an ongoing zoning issue, concerned with different figures for the setbacks, appeared to have resulted from a typographical error in the ordinance. “I think we have a solution worked out, or will have by the next meeting.” The appropriate amendment to the ordinance will receive second reading.
Roger Dickson reported on a promotional website and database that the town is considering. The database would expand the town’s scope beyond just reaching concert goers. A mass e-mail would be sent to promote a variety of events, including those sponsored by the PBA. The one time cost of establishing the website and database, estimated at five to six thousand dollars, would be paid for with funds generated by the town’s hospitality tax. In addition, there will be a monthly maintenance fee for keeping the site updated.
