BETTY MCDONALD

Betty Rose Matthews McDonald, 89, widow of Henry Otto McDonald, Jr., died Friday, December 14, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Coward, SC, January 3, 1929 to the late Leo and Fannie Ola Gause Matthews. She was a graduate of Lander College with a business degree.

She is a member of Hodges Presbyterian Church, a Former Salvation Army Board member in Georgia, church treasurer and an elder in the church as well as various other organizations.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her niece, Anne Adams and husband Robert of the home and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Laverne and Bob Matthews, two sisters Elvera Nickles and Virginia Pettigrew, a nephew, Stuart Nickles and niece, Nancy Cobb.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 3 PM at the Hodges Presbyterian Church with Rev. Hampton Hunter officiating. Burial followed at Oakbrook Memorial Park.

The family is at their respective homes and visited friends at the graveside.

Pallbearers were Eddie Adams, Matthew Adams, Brian-Henry Adams, Stuart Cobb, Bryson Cobb, Jacob Cobb, and Brogdon Rowe.

STACEY CHILDRESS

Stacey Regina Childress, 49, of Piedmont, died Friday, December 14, 2018.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of Shirleen Young Childress McEver and the late Arnold Spencer Childress. She was employed at B Pam’s Food Mart in Easley.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Dalton Kirby of Piedmont, and twin sons, Chanler and Chase Childress; daughter, Caytlin Kelly of Alliance, OH; step-grandmother, Frankie McEver of TN; sister, Barbara Jean Freeman of Greenville; step-brothers, Phillip McEver of TN and Dalton McEver of Liberty; and one granddaughter.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, December 18, in the chapel of Gray Mortuary. Burial followed at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Piedmont.

MICKEY MOORE

Mitchell Randall “Mickey” Moore, 71, of Powdersville, husband of Helen “Red” Moore, died Thursday, December 13, 2018.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Augustus Frank and Nell James Moore. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he retired from General Electric and attended Midway Bible Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Matthew Moore of Greenville; sister, Gayle Owen of Piedmont; and one granddaughter.

Funeral service was held Monday, December 17, at Midway Bible Church.  Burial followed at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, with military honors.

CHARLES SULLIVAN

Charles Edward Sullivan, 85, of West Pelzer, husband of Ruth Sullivan, died Sunday, December 16, 2018.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Charlie Ross Sullivan and Mattie Lou Ross Sullivan. He was retired from Cushman Mill in Williamston and a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean war.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons; Sam Sullivan of Piedmont and David Sullivan of Easley; daughters, Susan Thompson of Seneca, Becky Sullivan of Greenville, and Barbara Bagwell of Powdersville; sisters, Louise Watkins of Pelzer, Joyce Scarborough of Williamston, and Gaylene Cooley of Easley; Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was held Tuesday, December 18, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to West Pelzer Baptist Church, 29 Main Street, West Pelzer, SC 29669.

GRACE E. DEAN

The Unity Mortuary of Williamston announce that family and friends gathered  Monday, December 17, 2018 to celebrate the life of Mrs. Grace E. Dean, of Williamston, at New Hopewell Baptist Church 209 Dorchester Rd. Belton with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family received friends at the church prior to service. The family is at 18 Brown Street Williamston.

JOAN BURGESS CHANDLER

Joan Burgess Chandler, 84, of Easley, wife of Charles Kenneth Chandler, Sr., died on Sunday, December 16, 2018.

Born in Greenville, a daughter of the late Grady Lee Burgess and the late Maude Carol Burgess.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Charles Kenneth Chandler, Jr. of Powdersville; a sister, Carolyn Boling  of Anderson; one grandson,  and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 19 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Entombment followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to the Rock Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.

ROSE OWENS

Rose E. Owens age 75 of Williamston S.C., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2018.

She was born in Anderson County and was the daughter of the late Emerson and Annie Lee Owens. She was a member of Sweet Canaan Baptist Church and attended Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son Bryant L. Owens, two sisters Wyona O. Moss, and Verina Hunter, one brother Calvin Owens.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery.
