BETTY DAVIS

PIEDMONT – Betty Faye Bryson Davis, 77, wife of the late Charles Harold Davis, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Nellie Mae Hammond Bryson. She retired from the Department of Social Services and was a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of Abrahamic Faith. A breast cancer survivor, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by sons, Drew Davis (Kathy) of Orrum, NC and Don W. Davis of Piedmont; brother, John P. Bryson of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Friday, January 25, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

The funeral was Saturday, January 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Guthrie Grove Church of God of Abrahamic Faith, followed by burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

JAMES HOWARD

PELZER – James Edward “Bee” Howard, husband of the late Stella Fowler Howard, 84, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2019.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Ludie Larkin and Dicie Mardell Green Howard. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from Greenville County Schools Maintenance Department and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

The last surviving member of his immediate family, he is survived by daughter, Patricia Costa (Albert) of Simpsonville; son, Samuel Lawhorne (JoAnne) of North Myrtle Beach; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Saturday, January 26 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, followed by the service at 3:00. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Flowers were accepted, or memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 800 Old River Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.

The families are at their respective homes.

HAROLD COOPER

PELZER – Harold Cleveland Cooper, 83, husband of the late Sara Ann Cooper, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

Born in Slater, he was the son of the late Quillion C. and Blanche Cooper. A U.S. Naval Reserves veteran, he retired from Cryovac and was a Baptist.

He is survived by daughters, Denise Taylor (Chuck), La-Faye Cooper (Jerry), and Lisa Cooper (Tracy); grandchildren, Travis Davis (Cynthia), Gayla Baker (Jonathan), Jesse Burgess, and Shauna Knight (Shaun); great-grandchildren, Sara Mae Davis, E.J. Wilkerson, Avah, Daisy Ray, and Jay Jon Baker, and Paris Maxwell; and his girlfriend of many years, Martha Harbin and her loving children and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two children, Gayla Dorothea and Harold Robert Cooper.

Visitation was held Monday, January 28, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The service followed at 2:00 in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

DAVID TOOTHMAN

David Allan Toothman, 61, of Pelzer, died on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

He is survived in life by his spouse, Melissa McDaniel Toothman, and children, Daniel Toothman, Jasmine McDaniel Kreyling, Megan Toothman Roberts and Shellee Toothman; five grandchildren; and mother, Boonie Toothman.

He was preceded in death by, his father, Robert (Bob) Toothman.

TOMMY LEE THOMPSON

Tommy Lee Thompson, 54, of Piedmont, husband of the late Tonya Thompson, died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at his home.

Born in Morristown, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Ervin Lee and Myrtle Louise Henderson Thompson.

He is survived by his sons, Lee Thompson of Liberty, and Matt Thompson of Piedmont; a daughter, Clara Tiedemann of Dover, Delaware; a sister Tammy Head of Greenville; and five grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
