SYBIL ROSS

BELTON– Sybil Cox Ross, 90, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Ennis and Nellie Boyce Hannah. She retired from Milliken Company after thirty-four years and was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Piedmont.

She is survived by daughters, Joan Plunkett (Ray) of Belton and Debra Ross (Randall McBride) of Williamston; granddaughters, Cyndi Cox Johnson (Mikee), Trista Kelly Odom (Eric), Wendy Cox Capps and Sommer Cox Ray (Benjamin); five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sons, Danny Roy Cox and Tommy Clayton Cox; sister, Margaret Sue Davis.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 23, at Greenville Memorial Gardens with visitation following the service.

God has taken our precious mother and grandmother by the hand. Our hearts are broken, but there’s no more pain or sickness. Until we meet again sweet mother know that we love you very much.

GERTRUDE LOMAX

Mrs. Gertrude Lomax age 90 of 21 Minor Street Williamston S.C. passed on February 16, 2019 at AnMed Health Center, She was the daughter of the late George Lomax and Samantha Bailey and was born on July 23 1928 in Abbeville County. Gertrude was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Abbeville S.C., and attended school in Abbeville and work at LT Davis plant in Greenville S.C., and later retired as a housekeeper. Survivors include one sister Mary Lomax Johnson of Queens New York, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Odell Lomax, brother R.L. Lomax, sisters Winifred Lomax Crane, Amanda Lomax Jones, Fannie McNeal, and Sally Lomax Johnson. Funeral services were held Saturday at 12:00P.M. Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, burial followed in the Church Cemetery. The family is at the home.

MARY MATILDA ‘TILLIE’ HOWARD

Mary Matilda “Tillie” Howard, 66, of Gray Court, died February 16 in Portsmouth, VA.

Born in Greenville to Sybil Howard, she was adopted by the late John Ernest and Dessie Seigler of West Pelzer.

She is survived by daughter, Angelia Beaman Wood of Gray Court; son, Freddy Center of Clinton; Dawn Prince of Pensacola, FL; brother, John Ernest Seigler, Jr., of Honea Path; and brother, Sammy Seigler, of Beaufort; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial service was held on Sunday, February 24th, at Rabun Creek Baptist Church,17045 SC-101 in Gray Court followed by Celebration of her life reception.

LOUISE MCGILL JORDAN

ANDERSON, SC – Louise McGill Jordan, 82, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019, at her residence.

Born in Pelzer, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Bowen and Ruby Reid McGill. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. A graduate of Palmetto High School, she was the first Miss Palmetto in 1954. Mrs. Jordan was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Joe Jordan; daughter, Beth Jordan Lewis and husband, Dave, son, Joey Jordan, Jr. and wife, Sandy, daughter, Christy Jordan Allen and husband, Doug; grandchildren, Shannon Matthews (Chris), Tina Foster (Bryan), Marc Allen (Alisha), Jacob Allen (Cassie), Maria Jordan (Shaun); nine great-grandchildren; sister, Jimmie Chandler; and aunt, Bobbie Snipes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Jones and Jo Hall.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 22, at Boulevard Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Layne Smith and Dr. Jack Couch. The family received friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at a later date at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery. The family is at the residence.

ARTHUR HAIR, III

Arthur Byron Hair, III, 87, of Easley, husband of Priscilla Evans Hair, died Sunday, February 24, 2019.

Born in Savannah, GA, he was the son of the late Arthur Byron Hair, Jr. and Nelle McCants Hair.

He was a retired textile engineer and was a Methodist.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dawne Wimbrow of Easley; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 2, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

DOROTHY BURTON

Dorothy Willene Brazeal Burton, 91, of Honea Path, wife of the late Colie Burton, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Perry and Ollie Luther Brazeal. She retired from Union Carbide and was a Baptist.

Survivors include sister, Lillie Mae Standard; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and daughter-in-law, Tracy Gaillard and her husband David.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, February 24 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary.

Entombment was held Tuesday, February 26 at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

BECKY KAY

Rebecca Mae “Becky” Wright Kay, 88, of Pelzer, wife of the late Marion Guyton Kay, died Sunday, February 24, 2019.

   Born in Berkley County, she was a daughter of the late Grady and Ada Miller Hogsed. She was co-owner of K & K Construction. She was a member of Williamston First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Lonnie Kay of Williamston, Stephen Kay  of Belton, and Randy Kay of Piedmont; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday, February 26, at Gray Mortuary. The service was held on Wednesday, February 27, at Williamston First Baptist Church, with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

JERRY CAMPBELL

WILLIAMSTON – Jerry Lee Campbell, 71, husband of Eva Sue Burgess Campbell, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019.

Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Donald Rudolph and Mary Lynn Clayton Campbell. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he retired with the U.S. Army and from General Dynamics. He was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Leigh Anne Campbell of Travelers Rest; and four grandchildren, Wiley “Will” Wimberly, III of Greenville, Thomas H. Olney of CA, Mary Elizabeth and Ian Olney of FL.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Evelyn Olney; and sister, Mary Donna Campbell.

A private graveside service will be held at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

DANNY WILSON

WILLIAMSTON – Danny Coleman Wilson, 59, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of James Coleman Wilson, Jr. of Piedmont and the late Mary Jo Kay Wilson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the 82nd Airborne. He was formerly employed with Duke Energy and a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, he is survived by daughter, Lindsay McCauley (Jeremy) of Piedmont; son, Matthew Wilson of Piedmont; sister, Angela Wilson Boggs (Randy) of Piedmont; brothers, Robert Dirk Wilson (Lisa) of Anderson and Jamey Kay Wilson of Piedmont; grandchildren, Justin Wilson and Avery McCauley.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday, March 1 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

CHLOE CALLAHAN

Chloe Taylor Callahan, 19, of Pelzer, died Monday, February 25, 2019.

Born in Topeka, KS, she was a daughter of Shawn Warren Callahan of the home and Johna Dee Taylor Palmer of St. Marys, KS. She was a Senior at Wren High School and a member of Pathway Church in Piedmont.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by brother, Kristopher Robert Schlinder of St. Marys, KS; sister, Paige Callahan McGuire of Pelzer; grandfather, John W. Taylor of Topeka, KS.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 1, at 7:00 p.m. at Pathway Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
