Repost – The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating another incident in the Lakeside Road area of Piedmont, just south of Greenville. There have been three incidents in recent months in which bodies have been found in the surrounding area. This time, according to GCSO spokesperson Lt. Jimmy Bolt, human remains have been located in the 100 block of Lakeside Road, just off Hwy. 20 near the Lakeside Park.
The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call at approximately 4:20 pm  Friday (Mar. 29) and investigators were dispatched. At this time information concerning the incident is limited.
According to reports, a resident called 911 when his dog dragged in human remains.
Reports state that a neighbor Ronald Shackelford said his dog routinely shows up with bones from animal carcasses. Shackelford said he didn’t think much of it when the dog was chewing on bones earlier in the week until he realized the dog had a human skull.
Greenville County Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis said Friday that it was too soon to determine the age or sex of the deceased or how long they had been dead.
Forensics investigators and dogs were brought out to search the area and as of 8 p.m. Friday, investigators had not found any additional remains. Ellis said there were no  initial signs of foul play and the remains were to be sent to a lab Saturday. He said it is possible that a forensic pathologist could determine if there are signs of foul play, or identifying features.
Lt. Bolt said, as of Tuesday, there was no additional information on the incident.
Anyone with information about the remains found are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office conducted a death investigation near the end of Lakeside Road where an adult male’s body was found in the road close to Stables Road, by utilities workers on Jan. 28.
Two weeks earlier, deputies investigated a shooting incident that reportedly occurred at 854 S. Piedmont Hwy. According to reports, deputies responded to 1 S. Piedmont Highway, after the victim was brought to the Stop A Minit at the intersection of Hwy. 86 and Hwy. 20 in Piedmont, by non-ems personnel. The adult-male victim had at least one, non-life threatening gunshot wound that occurred after an altercation with another male.
GCSO deputies investigated the death of man whose body was found in a culvert on the side of Old Piedmont Road on Jan. 13.  Deputies found the body of a missing woman in a culvert in the same area two weeks earlier.
