James Douglas Chapman, 32, was taken into custody last Thursday (Apr. 11) in south Greenville County following an incident in which a Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputy was dragged by a vehicle.
According to reports, Chapman was located near Acker Road and Darby Circle.
The incident began when deputies responded to a motel, located at 11794 Augusta Road, where deputies were conducting a follow-up investigation involving Chapman, who has active warrants out of Anderson County.
Investigators were able to locate Chapman, who got inside a dark color Jeep. At some point in time investigators engaged in a scuffle with Chapman, as he was inside the car, before he ultimately accelerated and dragged the deputy, who sustained non-life threatening injuries.
In addition to his active warrant from Anderson County, he is going to be charged with Attempted Murder and Receiving Stolen Goods, stemming from the incident.
