MARTHA YOUNG LOLLIS, WENDELL EVANS NICHOLS, JEFF BRADLEY, JERRY USELTON, PAT DODD, WANDA TOLLISON, DOT THURSTON

MARTHA YOUNG LOLLIS

Martha Young Lollis 82 passed away at home on Wednesday, May 1st 2019.

She was born on November 17, 1936 to Oscar Leo Young and Lillie Mae Rainey Young in Anderson County.  She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Charles E Lollis Sr.

She is survived by her two sons Charles E Lollis Jr. (Heather) and Chad E Lollis, siblings Mary Williams of Williamston, Leon Young of Greenville and Jimmy Young of Pelzer as well as two special people in her life Jonathan Brashier and Justin Lowman whom she loved like family.

She was a devoted wife and a loving mother.  She enjoyed gardening and Gospel Music.  She was loved dearly and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

WENDELL EVANS NICHOLS

Wendell Evans Nichols, 77, born in Anderson County, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019.

He was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruth (Larry) Luker of the home; son, Scott (Yvonne) Nichols of Pelzer; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine (Jimmy) Rogers of Anderson; brothers, Ted (Pat) and Fred Nichols.

He was predeceased by brothers Earby, Harold, Robert Nichols; and sister, Ola Addington.

A service was held at Hospice Open Arms Chapel of Simpsonville on May 3.

JEFF BRADLEY

Jeffrey Wayne Bradley, 61, of Greenville, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

Born in Cushing, OK, he was the son of Carol Jo Brown Bradley Smith of Piedmont and the late Marvin Ray Bradley.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by sons, Randy Bradley of Edmond, OK, Eric Bradley of Stroud, OK and Steven Bradley of Aurora, CO; daughter, Kaylie Bradley of Tulsa, OK; sister, Janna Harder of Piedmont; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 7, in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral was held Wednesday, May 15, in the chapel of Davis Funeral Home, Cushing, OK. Burial followed at Avery Cemetery, Cushing, OK.

JERRY USELTON

Jerry Wayne Uselton, 82, of Simpsonville, husband of Virginia Maney Smart, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

Born in Hazel Green, AL, he was a son of the late James Walter and Lucille Beverly Uselton. He was a U.S. AirForce veteran who retired from Main Industries and attended Waycross Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughters, Rhonda McCuen of Pelzer, Ginger Dauenhauer of Piedmont, and Becky Bailey of Hampton, VA; son, David Smart  of Haughton, LA; sister, Joan Wiggins of Kinston, NC; brother, Jack Uselton of Murphreesboro, TN; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Waycross Baptist Church, with visitation to follow in the social hall.

PAT DODD

Arthur Patrick “Pat” Dodd, Sr., 86, of Pelzer, husband of Nora Heller Dodd, died Thursday, May 2, 2019.

Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Frank and Katie Dills Dodd. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from Jacobs-Sirrine Engineering and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Pelzer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Richy Dodd of Pelzer, Arthur Patrick “Art” Dodd, Jr. of Williamston; sister, Jenny Stewart of Pauline, SC; and two grandchildren.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, May 5, at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

WANDA TOLLISON

Wanda D. Young Tollison, 55, of Pelzer, wife of Barry Jo Tollison, died Thursday, May 2, 2019.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Nora “Betty” Cox Young. She worked for Piedmont Orthopedics.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Tim Ervin of Williamston, and Barry “B.J.” Tollison, Jr. of Pelzer; brothers, Gary Knight of Ware Shoals, Donnie Knight of Mauldin; sister, Linda Nix of Easley; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, May 8 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary.

DOT THURSTON

Dorothy “Dot” Dora Balcombe Thurston, 88, of Pelzer, wife of the late William “Bill” Marion Thurston, died Monday, May 6, 2019 at her home.

Born in Fountain Inn, she was the daughter of the late Arvin Jasper and Clara Bell Knighton Balcombe. She was retired from Steele Heddle and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church, in Piedmont.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda Belk of Belton and Joyce Morris of Pelzer; son, Bill Thurston of Piedmont; six grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held  Wednesday, May 8 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
