Saturday around 3:30 am deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to 506 Golden Pine Court, Piedmont, off Augusta Road in regards to a reported home invasion that resulted in two children being kidnapped.
Preliminary reports indicated a white male with dark hair, full beard and a tattoo on his neck and a white female, wearing a black and white skull mask with a pink shirt and blue jeans, forced their way into a residence at gunpoint.  The suspects then proceeded to assault two adult females before taking the kids from the residence and leaving in a dark colored pick up. The children’s ages were two and four years.
The assault victims were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. One of the victims was the mother of one of the children. The other child was being babysat at the residence during the time.
After further investigation into the incident, investigators charged 59-year-old Siegrid Covington and 33-year-old Jessica Whitt with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child.
The two children kidnapped were in the care of Whitt and Covington, who allegedly had crystal meth present in the residence. Investigators learned that the home invasion occurred at around 1:15 AM when the two suspects, armed with a firearm, assaulted Whitt and Carmack before taking the children and later dropping them off at a residence.
After the children were taken from the residence, both Whitt and Carmack went to at least one other location and engaged in drug use rather than reporting the incident to law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office was not notified of this kidnapping until just before 3:30 am Saturday.
The children were recovered safely and placed with family.
Investigators are continuing the investigate the circumstances surrounding the home invasion and kidnapping; however, preliminary information reveals the suspects entered the residence and began demanding cash.
The sheriffs office ask for anyone with information regarding this case to call Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 23-CRIME.
