A groundbreaking for a new park area at the P.A.W.S. facility will be held this Friday, June 28 at 10 am. The P.A.W.S. facility, located at 1320 Hwy 29 South, Anderson, sits on 12 acres of land that was graciously donated; and, P.A.W.S. is home on a daily basis to an average of 150 large dogs who need a large area to stretch their legs.
P.A.W.S. Veterinarian Kim Sanders and County officials met with a landscape architect to discuss the needs for a new dog park.  Together, a park plan was developed that will contain 10 separate play areas, an amphitheater to host movie nights, yoga, birthday parties, etc.
Anderson County P.A.W.S. raised over $60,000 in donations and fundraisers; recently, P.A.W.S. received a donation of $100,000 for the new park that will wind around the P.A.W.S. facility.  This park will serve the animals in our community; and, increase the quality of life for Anderson County residents and their pets providing opportunity to foster positive social interactions.
“This park gives back to the community. People love to show off and talk about their animals. This will be the perfect opportunity to spend time outdoors with your pet and others,” said Chairman Tommy Dunn.
