Two injured by lightning strike

Cheddar firefighters direct one of two ambulances into the scene where two people suffered from a lightning strike around 6:30 Thursday evening. It happened on East First Street Ext near Williamston. According to firefighters the strike came down a tree and ran the roots blowing dirt for about a 25 foot radius. The men were standing behind a truck and it was covered in dirt from the strike. They were knocked to the ground. EMS transported both men to Greenville Memorial Hospital. Both men suffered lower extremity burns. Neighbors reported it sounded like an explosion.
