KRISTINA BEHRINGER

WARE SHOALS – Kristina Marie Bottorff Behringer, 39, resident of 5 W. Katherine Street, Ware Shoals, widow of Staff Sgt. Joseph Gilbert “Joe” Behringer, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born November 26, 1979, in Champaign, IL, she was the daughter of Kevin Tarr and the late Linda Bottorff Pinson.  Kristina was raised in Chicago, by her Uncles, Roger Bottorff and Larry Gehrke.  A graduate of Wren High School in Anderson and Greenville Technical College, she was a devoted homemaker, taking care of her children and serving as a supportive member and organizer for Families of Deployed SC National Guardspersons.

Kristina was of the Lutheran Faith and was a talented cake maker and decorator.

Surviving in addition to her biological father of Traverse City, MI, and her uncles of Chicago are her three children, Dylan Bottorf, Nicole Behringer and Sarah Behringer, all of the home; two brothers, Eddie Blacker of Piedmont and Steven D. Tarter, Jr. of Illinois; and her extended family and friends of Chicago and her Upstate SC National Guard family.

She was predeceased in addition to her mother by a sister, Erica Madden.

Services will be conducted at a later date.

LOIS LADD HOLCOMBE

Lois Ladd Holcombe, age 102, formerly of Hickory Tavern, and widow of Rev. Rufus J. Holcombe, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Rocky River Baptist Residential Care Home in Belton.

Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mattie Ellis Ladd. She retired from Tavern Sportswear in Hickory Tavern and was a member of Union Baptist Church where she was formerly a Sunday School Teacher and WMU director.

Surviving are her grandchildren, Scott Holcombe, Kevin Holcombe, Diane Holcombe-Geddens, Johnny Holcombe, Lance Holcombe, Travis Holcombe, Robin Cox, and Dawn H. Smith; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her daughters-in-law, Barbara Holcombe and Ruby Holcombe.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two sons, Gary L. Holcombe and D. Rodney Holcombe; two brothers, Floyd M. Ladd and Kenneth H. Ladd; and two sisters, Maude L. Holland and Mary L. Woods.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 8 at Union Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Alex D. Henderson with burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

SYBIL IRENE HAMBY

BELTON SC – Sybil Irene Hamby, 76, of Belton, passed away peacefully, at her home, in the presence of all of her family.

Sybil enjoyed QVC shopping and watching Dr. Charles Stanley and Wheel of Fortune.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Irene Fortner, her son, Jerry Lee Hamby, her grandson, Austin Kyle Griffin and three sisters, Betty Fortner, Patsy Cothran, and Merlin Sims.

Surviving are her husband, James David Hamby of the home; son, Michael Hamby (Roberta) of Williamston; daughter, Teresa Griffin (Rick) of Honea Path; brother, William Fortner (Edna) of Greenville; grandchildren, Brittani Osborne (Nik), Corey Griffin (Brooke), Hanna Mullikin (Chris) and Kylie Griffin; great grandchildren; Rainey Grossmann, Bentlee Griffin, Barlee Griffin, Ruby Osborne, and River Mullikin.

Her favorite bible verse was – John 3:16 – For God So Loved The World That He Gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever Believeth in Him Should Not Perish, But Have Everlasting Life.

Funeral service was held at Cox Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, July 7 at 2pm.

Family will be at the Hamby home on Holiday Dam Rd. and will receive friends following the service from 5pm until 7pm at the home.

NELLIE SCROGGS

PELZER – Nellie Ruth Whitt Scroggs, 83, wife of the late Joe Calvin Scroggs, Sr., passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019.

Born in Attalla, AL, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Annie Newkirk Whitt.

She is survived by sons, Danny “Dan” Scroggs (Donna) of Williamston, Mike Scroggs and Bruce Scroggs (Laura), both of Pelzer; daughter, Vickie Selman (Steve) of Williamston; sisters, Elsie Taulton of Frederick, MD, Delcie Love of Tyler, AL, Jane Martin of Hanceville, AL, Lola Alexander and Mable Worley, both of Gadsden, AL; brothers, Mike Summerville of Pelzer, Bobby Whitt of Hickory, NC, Ray and Ernest Whitt, both of Gadsden, AL; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sons, Bobby “Cat” Scroggs and Joe “Dooder” Scroggs, Jr.; grandson, Christopher “Chris” Selman; sister, Edna Johnson; and brother, Lonnie Whitt, Jr.

Visitation was from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 2, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service followed at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel. Entombment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

MARK DAVID GAHAGAN

Mark David Gahagan passed away unexpectedly in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the age of 35.  Mark was born on May 19, 1984 in Harrisonburg, Virginia and lived in Jamison, Pennsylvania; Albany, Georgia; Athens, Georgia; Las Vegas, Nevada; Brunswick, Georgia; and St. Amant, Louisiana.

Mark is survived by his parents Drew and Frances Gahagan of Brunswick, Georgia; sister Rachel Keller of Tampa, Florida; brother, Kevin Gahagan of Brunswick, Georgia, his fiancée Deana Byers of St. Amant, Louisiana; grandparents, Vance and Elizabeth Cooley of Williamston, SC, and loving nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Mark was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Nancy Gahagan.  He is also survived by his two dogs, Luke and Rolly.

A memorial service was held in Twitty Chapel at First Baptist Church of Brunswick, Georgia on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 2:00 pm.  The Family received friends at the church following the service.

DON BRADY, JR.

Donald Rayford Brady, Jr., 56, of Williamston, husband of the late Nita Rae Kelly Brady, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of Barbara Ann Rhodes Brady of Williamston and the late Donald Rayford Brady, Sr. He was the owner of Brady’s Barber Shop in Williamston.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by son, Tyler Cain Brady of Clinton; sister, Sonya Maxine Brady of Piedmont; brother, Brent Tyler Brady of Greenville.

A private committal service will be held at a later date.

SONJA MARIE CRONE EDDLEMAN

Sonja Marie Crone Eddleman, 49, of Anderson, wife of Roger Dale Eddleman, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019.

Born in Anderson, a daughter of Raymond Perry Crone and Mary Frances Scott Crone of Williamston, she was a former H.R. Specialist for International Vitamin Company.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Heather Allison of Piedmont; a son, Brandon Eddleman of Piedmont; sisters, Donna Seigler of Williamston and Lisa Crone of Williamston; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 3 at 221 Ellison Lake Road, Williamston, SC 29697.

SARAH KAY CLARDY

Sarah Kay Clardy, 93, of Greenville, widow of Ernest Ansel Clardy, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Minnie Lee Woodson Kay. She was a tax filer with Clardy Accounting. She was a member of Poe Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Gail Clardy; two sons, Gary and Keith Clardy; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Joe Kay.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 9 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. Interment followed the service in Graceland Cemetery West.

ANN FOXX

Catherine Ann Williams Foxx, 84, of Piedmont, wife of the late Furman Glenn Foxx, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Ruben Albert Williams, Sr. and Beulah Mae Emery Williams. She retired from Union Carbide and was a member of First Baptist Church of Piedmont.

She is survived by one granddaughter; and sisters, Gail Alberson of Belton, Louise Orvin of Gaston and Dot Frizzell of Perkingtonville, OH.

Visitation was Friday, July 5, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

MARGARET STARNES

Margaret Coker Starnes, 90, of Belton, wife of the late Lawrence Eugene Starnes, Sr., passed away, Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Talmadge and Opal Heatherly Coker.  She was retired from Kendall Mill and a charter member of Dry Oak Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by daughters, Deb Martin, Shay McClellion Irwin both of Easley, and Kim Knight; son, Randy Starnes of Williamston; brothers, Wilbert Coker of Honea Path, Harold Coker and Larry Coker of Pelzer; 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A graveside service was held Saturday, July 6, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

RACHEL WOODSON

Rachel Ann McCuen Woodson, 76, of Piedmont, wife of the late Robert Earl Woodson, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Charles Ramsey and Annie Bell Davis McCuen. She retired from Kemet Electronics.

Survivors include daughter, Robin G. Queen of Piedmont; sisters, Mary Hudson, Sharon Brooks, Sammie Tompkins and Kathy Nabors, all of Pelzer; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and step-children, Sherry Pottz, Debra Finley, and Earl Woodson.

A graveside service was held on Friday, July 5 at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

LORETTA MCCUEN

Martha Loretta Short McCuen, 70, of Pelzer, wife of the late John Roland McCuen, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

Born in Bandy, Virginia, she was a daughter of Luther Perry and Margaret Price Short. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, James Roland McCuen of Liberty; sisters, Beulah Mae Rife of Marietta, Brenda Kay Goforth of Gastonia; half-brother, Charles Dunkley of Richlands, VA; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter,

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The service will follow at 2:00 in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JUDY FRASIER

Judith Lanette Williams “Judy”  Frasier, 73, of Williamston, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019.

Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Otto Williams and Ruth Vermillon Williams Burns.  She retired from Kendall Company.

She is survived by her daughter, Allison Evans of Pelzer; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Tuesday, June 18, at Gray Mortuary.  The funeral was held Wednesday, June 19, in the mortuary chapel with burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

The family will be at 10 Prizepole Lane, Pelzer, SC.

ELLAWESE REED

Ellawese Opal Reed, 86, of Williamston, died Saturday, July 6, 2019.

She is survived by her daughter, Sonja Reed of Williamston; sons, Verl Reed of Port Clinton, OH, Nick Reed of Fremont, OH, and Bill Reed of Williamston; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Billy Reed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
