Traffic stops end in wrecks

A chase through three counties ended in a wreck in which the suspect sustained a minor injury. According to reports, Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic  stop  for suspicion of Driving under the Influence on Piedmont Golf Course Road at Old Pelzer Road in Piedmont. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated by the Deputies. The pursuit entered into Anderson County and then into Pickens County. The suspect vehicle collided with a tree in Pickens County on Old Easley Bridge at Shady Acres. The driver was taken into custody and was found to have sustained a minor injury in the collision. The driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution. The driver  will be taken to the Greenville County Detention Center as soon as he is released from the hospital.
In a separate incident shortly after 9:30 pm Monday, a SC Highway Patrol Trooper was attempting  a traffic stop on I-85 northbound at Augusta Road when the suspect vehicle was involved in a single vehicle collision causing injuries. The Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Team is conducting the investigation into the collision.
