Fatal shooting – Boiter Road

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting Sunday night on Boiter Road, Williamston. The incident is being reported as a possible home invasion in which the homeowner shot a person trying to enter the residence. According to reports, deputies responded to 440 Boiter Rd. at 10:13 p.m. in reference to a shooting with injuries. Antwain Lorenta Moton, 35, black mal, told deputies he had shot an unknown hispanic male who was attempting forced entry into the residence through the front door. The unidentified hispanic male was deceased upon the arrival of deputies.
The incident remains under investigation.

Update (July 15 4:26 pm) – The Anderson County Office of the Coroner is investigating the shooting incident which has resulted in one death involving a home invasion.  According to the Coroners Office, investigators responded to 440 Boiter Rd in Williamston, around 10:10 p.m. last night in reference to a 911 call reporting a person had been had been shot after breaking in to a residence.  Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Medshore Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident location.  The victim was declared deceased on scene.

Brent Simpson, Deputy Coroner stated that the victim has not been positively identified at this time.   The victim appears to be a Hispanic male between 25-30 years old that appears to have attempted to enter a residence at 440 Boiter Rd in Williamston and subsequently was shot by the home owner after a brief struggle.  The victim died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Additional information will be released regarding the decedent’s identity as soon as it becomes available and family has been notified.
