KARLEY BROWN BYARS, GRACE DENNISON, LOIS LADD HOLCOMBE, PATSY JONES, CECIL ROLLINS

KARLEY BROWN BYARS

Karley Michelle Brown Byars, 28, of Williamston, wife of Scott Brady Byars, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of Larry Dwayne Brown, Sr. and Teresa Williams Brown of Piedmont. She was employed with Publix in Easley.

In addition to her husband and parents, survivors include her daughters, Kamrey and Kenleigh Brown; son, Kayson Harper, all of the home; and grandmother, Peggy Moon of Piedmont.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 13, in the chapel of Gray Mortuary. Entombment followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

GRACE DENNISON

Grace Lageen Blakeslee Dennison, 86, of Williamston, wife of the late Kerry Gene Dennison, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019.

Born in Union City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gerald Leroy and Florence Louise Clark Blakeslee.

She is survived by daughters, Sharon Dennison of Williamston and Rebecca Dennison Mergel of Williamston; brother, Chuck Blakeslee of Union City, PA; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service will be held on Friday, July 19, at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel.

Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Corry, PA.

HAZEL DARLENE CALLAHAM GETSINGER

Hazel Darlene Callaham Getsinger, 62, of Anderson, died Tuesday at her residence.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late James Clyde and Hazel Ransom Callaham. She attended Belton Church of God.

Surviving are: son, Scott Driver of Anderson; daughters, Crystal Shirley and Cindy Alley both of Anderson; brother, Pastor Bobby Callaham of N.C., and Lavone Callaham of Piedmont; and four grandchildren.

Memorial service was held Saturday, July 11 at Belton Church of God.

LOIS LADD HOLCOMBE

BELTON, SC – Lois Ladd Holcombe, age 102, formerly of Hickory Tavern, and widow of Rev. Rufus J. Holcombe, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Rocky River Baptist Residential Care Home in Belton, SC.

Born in Williamston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mattie Ellis Ladd.  Lois retired from Tavern Sportswear in Hickory Tavern and was a member of Union Baptist Church where she was formerly a Sunday School Teacher and WMU director.

Surviving are her grandchildren, Scott Holcombe, Kevin Holcombe, Diane Holcombe-Geddens, Johnny Holcombe, Lance Holcombe, Travis Holcombe, Robin Cox, and Dawn H. Smith; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and her daughters-in-law, Barbara Holcombe and Ruby Holcombe.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was predeceased by her two sons, Gary L. Holcombe and D. Rodney Holcombe; two brothers, Floyd M. Ladd and Kenneth H. Ladd; and two sisters, Maude L. Holland and Mary L. Woods.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Union Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Alex D. Henderson with burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, SC.

The family will be at their respective homes and received friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.

PATSY JONES

WILLIAMSTON – Patricia Ann “Patsy” Jones, 85, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late James Grady and Margaret Cobb Jones.  Patsy was a retired educator, having taught nine years in North Carolina, twenty-four years with Anderson School District One, and   five years with Calvary Pre-School.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority for Women Educators.

She is survived by a cousin, Elizabeth “Beth” Mahaffey Creamer of Anderson; and Bob Killey of Jacksonville FL, son of the foster daughter of Grady and Margaret Jones.

Visitation was held Wednesday, July 17, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at Cannon Memorial Park, Fountain Inn SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Women’s Community Prayer Group for the Children’s Backpack Ministry, Calvary Baptist Church, 10 Academy Street, Williamston, SC 29697. Attention: Glenda McInnis.

The family was at the home, Tuesday, July 16, from 6:00 to 8 :00 p.m.

CECIL ROLLINS

Cecil H. “Pete” Rollins, 90, of Greenville passed away in hospice care at Richard Michael Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. He was the son of Mamie Eunice Leach and Robert Lee Rollins.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Grove Road Baptist Church. He worked as an electrician and an upholsterer.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Catherine Rollins; a son, John Stewart  of Archdale, NC; a daughter, Nancy Rollins of Smithfield, NC; and one sister, Betty Thompson of Powdersville. He is also survived by five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; and foster grandchildren.

Funeral services were held graveside at Graceland Cemetery West, July 16. Memorials can be made to Grove Road Baptist Church.
