ELAINE CAMPBELL VERNON

Elaine Campbell Vernon, age 78, of Lawrenceville, Georgia died on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Sunrise of Johns Creek, surrounded by her family, after a brave fight against dementia.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Cynthia “Cyndi” Vernon Smith and her husband Mike of Suwanee, GA; her beloved grandchildren, Sarah M. Smith of Brooklyn, NY, Abigale Smith of Atlanta, GA and Jacob S.C. Smith of Suwanee, GA; sister, Anita Campbell Baldwin and her husband Wayne of North Myrtle Beach, SC; niece, Holland “Holly” Yates and nephew, Jay Yates both of Greensboro, NC; other relatives and a host of friends.

A Memorial Service Honoring Elaine’s Life will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Minister Harold Savage officiating. The family received friends on Tuesday starting at Noon until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

SARA LOUISE KNIGHT STROUD

Williamston, SC – Sara Louise Knight Stroud, 73, of 212 Crawford St. passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Bailey and Mattie Woodson Knight.

Surviving are: sons, William Erwin (Lisa) of Anderson, and Russell Stroud (Kim) of Williamston; sisters, Frances Trotter and Jean Stroud both of Williamston, Betty Madden of Belton, and Margaret Stroud of Anderson; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Private graveside service was held  Tuesday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Ralph James officiating.

The family received friends following the service Tuesday at the cemetery.

Flowers are optional, or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate.

The family will be at the residence.

CHARLENE SHOOK CISSON

Charlene Shook Cisson, 71, of Pelzer,  wife of Scott Cisson, died Monday, August 26, 2019.

Born in Kingston, PA, she was a daughter of the late William Marshall and Omoo Chase Shook.

She was a member of Dunean Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jason Cisson; a daughter, Andrea Cisson Tucker; a sister, Lamira Nan Phillips.

Visitation was held Thursday, August 29 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service was held Friday, August 30 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial was held in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Dunean Baptist Church, 21 Allen St., Greenville, SC 29605.

LIB GUTHRIE

Ruth Elizabeth Copeland “Lib” Guthrie, 75, of Williamston, wife of the late William Larry Guthrie, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Dora Mae Copeland. She was a seamstress.

Survivors include son, Travis Guthrie of Pelzer; sister, Wilma Davenport of Williamston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Wednesday, September 4, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Big Creek Baptist Church. The funeral followed with burial in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her son, Travis Guthrie.

BARBARA MOODY BRIDGES

Barbara Moody Bridges, 77, of Anderson, widow of James Hugh Bridges, of Anderson, passed away, Sunday, September 1, 2019.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Giles and Alpha Moody.

She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Thompson ; a son, Jeffrey Bridges; three grandchildren, Jonathan Thompson, Brittany Walker, Hannah Morton; four great grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Merritt, Faye Bryson, Louise Perry, and Janice Perry.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, September 4,  at Siloam Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
