NANCY ATTAWAY

Pelzer – Nancy O. Edens Attaway, 82, wife of the late Clarence Rudolph Attaway, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Herman and Edna Lucille Smith Edens. She retired from Kemet Electronics Corporation and was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include daughter, Carolyn Roberson (Billy) of Belton; sons, Randy (Joanne) and Michael Attaway both of Pelzer; brother, William “Bill” Edens of Williamston; sisters, Judy Roache of Honea Path, Ruby Cabiness, Barbara Shipman, Thelma Timms, and Pat Chandler, all of Williamston; seven grandchildren, Gregory Burgess, Maxx Attaway, McKyla Attaway, Randy Attaway, Jr., Jeffrey Attaway, Kristen King, Alysia Roberson; and four great-grandchildren, Eli Attaway, Quinn Roberson, Sammy Attaway, and Cru King.

She was predeceased by brother, Harold Edens; sisters, Louise Cooley, Cathy Pilgrim, Margaret Robinson; and grandson, Geoffrey Burgess.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 6, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The service followed at 2:00 in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

WAYNE DAVIS

Piedmont – Rufus Wayne Davis, 87, husband of Betty Wilson Davis, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Born in Coffeeville, MS, he was a son of the late Otto Davis and Mamie Barnett Davis.  He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran.  He retired as a self-employed drywall contractor and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Waymon Davis of the home, Ricky Davis (Deborah Turner) of Pelzer and Robert Davis (Elizabeth Jeffeaux) of Williamston; daughter, Donna Davis Silman of West Pelzer; grandchildren, Laranda Davis Rowland, Ashley Davis, Ben Silman, and Clint Davis; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation was Tuesday, September 10, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church.  The service followed at 2:00 p.m., with burial in the church cemetery.

HASKELL TAYLOR

Pelzer – Haskell Kay Taylor, 68, husband of Carolyn Martin Taylor, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019.

Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Bert Robert Taylor and Sallie Mae Todd Taylor Josey.  He was retired from retail management and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School director.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lauren Taylor Sullens (Rev. Clint) of Ellabell, GA; son, Stephen Albert Taylor (April Austin) of Rock Hill; brother, Anthony Paul Taylor of Iva; and grandchildren, Mae, Cora, Lottie, Gauge, and Jolie Sullens and Ansley and Braxton Taylor.

He was predeceased by brothers, Therman, Ray, and David Taylor.

Visitation was held Sunday, September 8, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.  The service was held Monday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

FRANK B. CHILDRESS, JR.

Frank Bruce Childress, Jr., of Piedmont, died Thursday, September 5, 2019. He was born in Six Mile, a son of Frank B. Childress, Sr., and Flora Ellen Bennett Childress.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Reid Childress of Piedmont; and three children from previous marriages: Louise Hayes, Austin, Texas, James Edward Childress of Easley, and Frankie Lynn Bramlett of Anderson; three granddaughters; and two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Rachel Hollifield of Marion, North Carolina and Earlene Sublette of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. His working career was primarily as a machinist and tool and die maker.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, September 11th at the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery in Six Mile, South Carolina.

JASON LEE MIKEWORTH

Jason L. Mikeworth, 23, of Piedmont, son of Patrick and Sharon Mikeworth, died on Saturday, August 31, 2019.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 6, at Grove Station Baptist Church, Piedmont. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

MARVIN BECK

Walter Marvin Beck, 76, husband of Virginia Brooks Beck  of Greenville passed away Friday, September 6, 2019.

Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Tom Beck, Jr. and Vossie Smith Beck.  He served in the U.S. Army, worked at York Construction and was a member of Columbia Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffery Beck (Geneva) of Westminster; brother Michael Beck (Melissa) of Six Mile; one granddaughter.

Visitation was held Tuesday, September 10 at Columbia Baptist Church, 11321 Augusta Road, Honea Path, with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MARY GOLDEN

Williamston – Mary Frances Shaw Golden, 83, wife of Billy Edward Golden, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Born in Williamston, she was the daughter of the late Harrison Shaw and Virginia Gertrude Owens Shaw.  She retired from Patrick B. Harris Hospital where she was a nurse and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Todd Golden (Amy) of Simpsonville; daughter, Robin Davenport (Derrick) of Williamston; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 14, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Gray Mortuary.  The service will be at 11:30 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

MALLIE RUTH THOMPSON

Mallie Ruth Thompson, 82, of Pelzer, widow of Robert Alexander, died Saturday, September 7, 2019.

She was a daughter of the late Ansel and Isabel Alberson.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Scott, Theresa Galloway, and Pamela Cockcroft; ten grandchildren; and brothers Larry and Wade Alberson.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

GROVER MONROE HARRIS

Grover Monroe Harris, 82, of Liberty, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 at his home.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Monroe Harris and Alma Palmer Harris. HE was a machinist in the textile industry.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Godfrey Harris; sons, Lee Harris of Greenville, Bruce Harris and David Harris both of Piedmont; daughter, Sharon Harris Hart of Sumter; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 11th. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
