A juvenile was arrested Thursday (Sept. 19) in connection with threats made toward Powdersville High School earlier this week. According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, at no time did the School Resource Officer at Powdersville High or school officials believe that the threat posed actual danger for any students, staff, or the facility.
However the arrest was made after the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office SRO working at Powdersville High School was notified of a possible threat of violence towards the school on Tuesday.  Upon receiving the notice, the SRO requested additional resources as a matter of precaution while the incident was being investigated fully.
Upon conclusion of the investigation, deputies gathered enough evidence to charge a juvenile with Student Threats.  On September 19, the juvenile was detained and referred to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).
