ROBERT EUGENE ASPRAY, CECIL BARNES, THOMAS LINDSAY, MARY LOUISE CAMBRIDGE MCALISTER, ZELLA MOODY, LYNDA STONE, NORMA ELAINE SWEATMAN

ROBERT EUGENE ASPRAY

Robert Eugene Aspray, 83, of Greenville, widower of Patricia Thackston Aspray, of Greenville, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late John Aspray, Sr. and Vivian Carney Aspray.

He served in the United States Army and was a member of River Road Baptist Church. He was an electrician.

He is survived by three daughters, Janice Shirley of Greer, Joan Treadway of McIntosh, FL, and Ophelia Davis of Liberty; a son, Robert K. Aspray of Piedmont; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two brothers, John Aspray of Greenville and Homer Aspray of Lyons, GA.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Garrison Aspray.

Graveside service was held Sunday, October 13 at Graceland Cemetery, West.

CECIL BARNES

Cecil Allen Barnes, 83, of West Pelzer, husband of Dorris Evelyn Human Barnes, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019.

Born in Gaston County, NC, he was a son of the late Ulysses William and Bertha Elizabeth Laws Barnes. He retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Tina Mackey of Williamston; son, Todd Barnes of Williamston; sister, Jane Ruis of Americus, GA; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, October 15, at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family is at the home of Todd Barnes, 607 Beaverdam Rd., Williamston.

THOMAS LINDSAY

James Thomas Lindsay, 81, of Belton, husband of Barbara Souther Lindsay, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late William Clyde and Edith Wilson Lindsay. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

He was a career Law Enforcement Officer. He had previously served as Police Chief of Belton Police Department and Honea Path Police Department, and retired from Anderson County Sheriff’s Department.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: two daughters, Deana Fisher of Williamston and Tracy Garcia of Clermont FL; a brother, Jimmy Ray Lindsay of Honea Path; two sisters, Diane Mizzell and Janice Gentry, both of Anderson; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 13 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Eastview Cemetery.

MARY LOUISE CAMBRIDGE MCALISTER

Mary Louise Cambridge McAlister, 88, of Greenville passed away on October 13, 2019. She was born in Pelzer to the late Robert Neil Cambridge and Jennie Caroline Johnson.

She is survived by her son Robert Howard McAlister, Jr.; and one grandson.

She is predeceased by her husband Robert Howard McAlister.

She retired from Greenville County Health Department Vital Records. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Greenville.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC

ZELLA MOODY

Zella Mae Cooley Moody, 99, of Pelzer, wife of the late Sam Henry Moody, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 at her home.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late James Enoch and Vennie Estelle Cothran Cooley. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Clara Moody Cooley of Belton; sister, Ruth Warlick of Pelzer; brother, James Cooley of Greenville; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, October 16,  in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary. Burial followed at Beech Springs Cemetery.

LYNDA STONE

Lynda Faye Williams Bagwell Stone, 71, of Pelzer, wife of William Ted Stone, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

Born in Greenville County, and lived in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest and Hazel Kuykendall Williams. She retired from TnJ Trailers that she co-founded in 1989. She was a member of Conestee Church of God.

She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Alexander of Simpsonville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, October 12, at Gray Mortuary. Entombment followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Wanda Alexander, 203 Walnut Trace Court, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

NORMA ELAINE SWEATMAN

Norma Elaine Sweatman, 88, of Piedmont, widow of Lewis Sweatman, passed away, Thursday, October 10, 2019.

Born in Wagener, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Ruth Nunn.

She was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church. She retired from Kemet Electronics.

She is survived by three daughters, Elaine Yeargin of Virginia, Brenda Gregory of Powdersville, and Mary Ann Rampey of Six Mile; a son, Benjie Sweatman of Westminster; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Nunn.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, October 15 at West Gantt First Baptist Church.
