Mitch Snipes

Jeffrey Mitchell “Mitch” Snipes, 32, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of Jerry Milton “Butch” Snipes, Jr. (Shannon Novinska) of Belton and Margaret Snipes (Frank Frew) of Greenville.  He was a welder.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Jean Marie Snipes and her mother, Anna Revis of Pelzer; sisters, Jami Snipes (Dusty French) of Gray Court and Audrianna Snipes of Greenville; grandparents, Jerry Milton Snipes, Sr. of Piedmont and Rebecca Jean Snipes of Pelzer.

Visitation was January 27, at Gray Mortuary followed by the service in the mortuary chapel.

Burial was at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Dewey Smith

Raymond Dewey Smith, 87, husband of Carolyn Harvey Smith, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020.

Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Raymond Leroy (Roy) and Bertha Pressley Smith.  He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was retired from Duke Energy. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Pelzer. 

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by son, Raymond “Ray” Smith of Seneca; daughters, Ann Cleveland of Easley, and Lisa Dalton of Dacusville; brothers, William (Bill) Smith of Easley and J. Charles Smith of Pelzer; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on  January 28, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pelzer, with the service following 4:00.  Burial was private.

Larry Mauldin

Williamston – Larry Lee “Pepa” Mauldin, 75, husband of Laura Faye “Mema” Ellison Mauldin, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Troy Ellis and Willie Ruth Creamer Mauldin.  He retired from J.P. Stevens White Horse Road Plant and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Williamston.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Terry Mauldin (Belinda) of Williamston, Keith Mauldin (Rhonda) of Belton, and David Mauldin (Melissa) of Anderson; sisters, Linda Medlin of Williamston, Nancy M. Rogers of Piedmont, and Dot Dutton of Belton; brothers, Charles and Jones Mauldin, both of Williamston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday, January 21, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.        

The service held Wednesday, January 22, at Trinity Baptist Church. Entombment followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Ophelia Phillips Jenkins

Mrs. Ophelia Phillips Jenkins, 80, of Gastonia, NC died Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Born September 13, 1939 in Pelzer, SC, she was a daughter of the late Roy M. Phillips and Lou Ann Clark Phillips. 

Ophelia is survived by her daughter, Kim Spears, of Goose Creek, SC. And her son, Kevin Jenkins, of Gastonia, NC. A sister, Faye P. Fowler, of Pelzer, SC. 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Jenkins, and brothers, Joe and Leon Phillips, infant sister, Betty Ruth Phillips.

A graveside service was held Saturday, January 25, 2020 in the Pisgah ARP Church Cemetery, Gastonia, NC.

DOREEN ZIZZO BREWER

Doreen Zizzo Brewer, 63, of 117 Ashton Lane, Anderson, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020, at her home.

Ms. Brewer was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Angelina Anatra Zizzo. She was a retried dental hygienist. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Ms. Brewer is survived by her son: Gregory Coutu of Seneca, daughter: Tricia Coutu of Piedmont, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 30, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Thursday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.
