Alan “Pops” Snider, Thelma Blythe Simpson, “Rosa” Haynes, Hazel Cooley King, James E. Byrd, Ellogene Roberts, Michelle Davis

 

Alan “Pops” Snider

Williamston – Alan Blaine “Pops” Snider, 68, husband of Irene Chloe Fitzpatrick Snider, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Born in Branson, MO, he was a son of the late Lee H. and Janice Euphoma Hutchens Snider. He was formerly employed with Tri-City Auto Parts.

In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Anthony Lee Snider of the home, Scott Alan Snider of Belton, Teddy Jair “T.J.” Snider of West Pelzer; adopted son, Mark Daniel Rose of Belton; sister, Connie Snider; brother, Richard Snider; five grandchildren, Christopher Alan Snider, Sierra Nicole Snider, Monica Haley Snell, Christina Irene Snider, and Gemini Samantha Snider; and one great-grandchild, Brynlee Makayla Snell.

He was predeceased by brothers, Howard, David, and Dale Snider.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 26 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

The service will be on Thursday, February 27, at 3:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.

A private burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Thelma Blythe Simpson

Thelma Blythe Simpson, 87, widow of James B. Simpson formerly of Pelzer died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Southern Oaks Rehabilitation & Healthcare.

Born in Honea Path, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. and Beatrice Gilmer Blythe. She was a member of Washington Baptist Church of Pelzer.

Surviving are: sons, James David Simpson, and Tommy B. Simpson both of Pelzer; daughters, Terrie Barbare of Pelzer, and Susan Hudson of Williamston; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.

Graveside service was Saturday at Washington Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Washington Baptist Church at 208 Washington Church Rd. Pelzer, SC 29669.

“Rosa” Haynes

Martha Rosalee “Rosa” Smith Haynes, 80, widow of Gerald Haynes, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at her home.

Born in Pickens, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Walker Smith and Bessie Smith King.

Survivors include daughters, Ashley Gambrell of Pelzer and Venesa Sanders of Anderson; sons, Greg Haynes of Piedmont and Mark Haynes of Williamston; sisters, Anne Gillespie of Williamston and Mary Taylor of Crestview, FL; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held February 23 at   Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following in the mortuary chapel.  Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

Hazel Cooley King

Hazel Christeen Thompson Cooley King, 90, wife of the late Kenneth King, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

She was twice married, first to the late John Casper “Bill” Cooley.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late John Raymond and Bessie O’dell Coker Thompson. She retired from Soft Care Apparel, sold Mary Kay Cosmetics and was a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church.

She is survived by a granddaughter, and one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Friday, February 28, at West Pelzer Baptist Church. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

James E. Byrd

James E. Byrd, 49, of Williamston, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Northside Hospital Forsyth in Cummings, GA.

Funeral Service: Saturday, February 29, 2020, 2:00pm at Long Branch Baptist Church, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Ellogene Roberts

Ellogene Foster “Gene” Roberts, 87, wife of the late Maynard Ratcliffe “Bob” Roberts, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020.

Born in Bristol, TN, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Lena Mae Glover Foster. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Dickerson of Ocala, FL, Phyllis Ables of Bossier City, LA, Grady Roberts of Orangeburg, Jeff Roberts of Fort Mill, Ricky Roberts (Angela) of Lexington, Darlene Freeman of Columbia, Mike Roberts of Saint George, Chisele Bullock of West Columbia, Denise Butcher of Spring, TX, Mark Roberts of Williamston; sister-in-law, Eda Mae Perkins of Andover, ME; twenty-three grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church. The family greeted friends following the service.

The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted, and memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church Missions, 10 Academy Street, Williamston, SC 29697.

Michelle Davis

Patricia Michelle Whaley Davis, 45, wife of Harold William Davis, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of Patsy Olether Culberson Whaley and the late Luther Perry Whaley. She was formerly employed with Greenville Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by son, Malachi Sanchez Fricks of the home; daughter, Stella Mae Fricks of the home; and brother, Michael P. Whaley of Pelzer.

Visitation was February 24, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral followed in the mortuary chapel. Burial was  at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
