The Town of Williamston recently made it possible to have festival banners placed back across West Main Street. Unfortunately a truck took out a banner that had been put up and both poles today (Thursday) about noon. Phone and cable lines were also down and West Main Street blocked until the lines and a broken pole could be repaired. Williamston Police and Fire Department responded to help with traffic. The incident happened in front of the fire department, and fire trucks were moved out of the building and clear of the scene in case they were needed. The truck was cleared by 12:45 pm though a downed phone line and broken pole still needed to be removed. West Main Street in front of the park was closed most of the day while workers repaired a pole and utility lines.
