Following a severe Thunderstorm with winds in the 70 mph to 80 mph range, a number of trees and power lines were down across the upstate.
As of 5:55 a.m. Monday morning, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative reported 35,186 members without electricity.  The by-county breakdown:
Anderson             4,8341
Greenville            1,108
Oconee                16,627
Pickens                 12,588
Spartanburg        29
All in-house line crews, as well as a good number of contract crews, are in the field making repairs.  Other electric cooperatives around the state have been contacted to request their help with this storm emergency.  Crews are encountering numerous broken poles, along with trees blocking roadways.  A large portion of the outages in Oconee County are related to trouble on a high-voltage transmission line.
