Heavy rains cause sewer overflows for Anderson County

Due to heavy rains last week, Anderson County Wastewater experienced Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSO’s) at three pump stations.
The pump stations that had reported overflows were:
Hembree Creek Pump Station (301), 202 Timberlake Road, estimated overflow 75,000 gallons.
Stonehaven Pump Station (303), Sussex Way, estimated overflow 30,000 gallons.
Gilmer Pump Station (305), Rhodehaven Drive, estimated overflow 5,000 gallons.

Rainfall of over 6 inches was recorded at these locations in Anderson County on May 20th. DHEC was notified along with Anderson Regional Water. Wastewater Staff were on-site with generators to restore power at stations. By-pass pumps were also used along with pumper trucks to assist in handling the excessive flows.
