Anderson School District 1 is moving back the start of the 2020-2021 school year for students one week. The first day of school for students will be Tuesday, August 25, 2020. District One officials said this gives the District an additional week to ensure all safety measures established in their “Back to School Protocol” document are in place.
The School Board approved the revised calendar in their July 28 meeting.
Under the new calendar, graduation for all three high schools remains scheduled for May 28, 2021. The last day of school for students will be June 8, 2021.

Anderson One is planning a staggered school start.
According to the school start plan posted on the District One website, the District has been working to establish safety protocols that will provide the safest possible environment for students and staff. Training staff and students on these safety protocols will be important during the first days of school. Each year District staff inform and
train students on various aspects of school practices, rules and protocols. This year there will be A LOT of new things for everyone to learn!
District 1 explored several options to stagger the start of school for certain students. The plan allows for teachers to work with smaller groups of students as they review and teach very important safety protocols. It also allows for maximum social distancing while students are learning the new procedures and minimizes the risk of virus spread during this “practice” time.
Elementary and Primary Schools
The following grade levels will report to school on the following days:
Tuesday, August 25: Only 2nd and 5th grade will report to school
Wednesday, August 26: Only 1st and 4th grade will report to school
Thursday, August 27: Only K5 and 3rd, grade will report to school
Friday, August 28: All students will report to school for the remainder of the year if safe to do
so)
**K3 and K4 Classes
(Schools will contact parents with specific dates and times.)
K3 and K4 will report as follows:
Tuesday, August 25: 1/2 of students and parents will report to school
Wednesday, August 26: 1/2 of students and parents will report to school
Thursday, August 27: 1/2 students will report to school
Friday, August 28: 1/2 of students will report to school
Monday, August 31: All K3 and K4 students will report to school
** Bus transportation for K3 and K4 students will begin Monday, August 31.

Students in grades 6 through 12 will report to school on the following hybrid/staggered
