Greenville & Western Railway Company, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Carolina Railway Service Corporation, is currently performing major repairs to the J.P. Gossett Drive overpass in Williamston.
Originally scheduled for completion between August 24 and September 6, 2020, the discovery of additional structural damage to a critical load-bearing point on the 1912-built bridge has revealed a need for additional repairs that are beyond the scope of the work originally anticipated.
As a result of this unforeseen damage, Gossett Drive remain closed through September 15, 2020, so that thorough repairs to the structure can be completed. The road will be opened earlier if work is completed ahead of the now revised schedule.
