Senator Mike Gambrell is walking around with checks for each of the towns in his district tucked into his briefcase. He plans to deliver them soon; most likely at the towns’ respective November council meetings. Each town will receive the same amount, $5,000.
West Pelzer recently postponed its October meeting due to a couple of “Covid scares”, in the words of Mayor Blake Sanders. “It was nothing too serious, but we felt it better to err on the side of caution. So in November, we’ll probably revisit COVID and the steps we have taken, as well as talk about the plans for the town’s holiday activities.”
Pelzer and Williamston will receive a check at their November meeting as well.
Piedmont has already received its portion of the Parks, Recreation and Tourism funds.

Senator Gambrell says he tries to provide some funding for the various towns’ recreation efforts each year, adding that in this COVID year, with a disheveled budget, he is very grateful to be able to do so.
