In their daily update Wednesday (Oct. 21) The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) reported 686 new confirmed cases and 86 new probable cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, 11 additional confirmed deaths and 1 new probable death.

Anderson County reported 53 new cases and one death related to COVID.
Greenville County reported 82 new cases and no deaths related to COVIC.

This brings the total confirmed deaths to 3,487, and 221 probable deaths.

The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday statewide was 5,787 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 11.9%.

There are 743 COVID patients in hospitals across the state. Of those, 197 are in ICU and 98 are on ventilators.
