On Wednesday (Oct. 4) the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) reported 647 new confirmed cases and 68 new probable cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19. DHEC also reported 16 additional confirmed deaths, and 3 new probable deaths related to COVID.

Anderson County reported 31 new cases.
Greenville County reported 131 new cases, one probable case and one death related to COVID.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases since the first case was reported March 6 to 171,642 and probable cases to 9,228. total confirmed deaths related to COVID are 3,728, and 257 probable deaths related to COVID.

The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday statewide was 4,459 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 14.5%.

There were 783 COVID patients in hospitals across the state. Of those, 210 are in ICU and 112 are ventilated.
