Etta Jean King

Etta Jean King of Greenville, 86, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020.

A native of southern Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late James Hoyt and Nellie Mae Coker King. She retired from South Carolina National Bank. She was a lifelong member of Washington Baptist Church, Pelzer.

She is survived by a brother, James Harold King.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, November 18, at Washington Baptist Church. The family greeted friends following the service.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Baptist Church, 208 Washington Church Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.

Josh Kane

Josh Ruben Kane, 43, of Lurey Street, Laurens, died Friday, November 13, 2020 at Prisma Health – Laurens County Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, he was son of Christine Riddle Kane and the late James Phillips. 

He attended New Mercies Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother of the home is his daughter, Melinda Redrick of Waterloo.

Memorial services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, November 21, 2020 at New Mercies Baptist Church, Ware Shoals, with Rev. Bobby Mabry officiating.

Bessie Cooley

Bessie Virginia Gillespie Cooley of Piedmont, 93, wife of the late Rev. John Joseph Cooley, Jr., passed away on November 10, 2020.

 Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Truman and Martha Estelle Griffith Gillespie. She retired from Varat Manufacturing and was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

   The last surviving member of her immediate family, survivors include a daughter, Vickie Jenkins of Pelzer; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

 A graveside service was held November 13, at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookdale Hospice, 311 Simpson Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

Tony “Slick” Roberts

Tony Neil “Slick” Roberts, Sr. of Piedmont, 71, husband of Donna Bedford Roberts, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Truman Jackson and Nannie Louise Lindley Roberts. He retired from Gerber Mill, in Pelzer.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Tony Neil Roberts, Jr. of Hanahan; daughter, Wendy Nimmons of Piedmont; sisters, Connie Roberts Sims and Gail Roberts Scraggs, both of Williamston; brother, David Roberts of Williamston; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Upstate SC Chapter, 123 West Antrim Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.

Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn, and social distancing observed.

Sherry Paulette Brazeal Bellville 

Sherry Paulette Brazeal Bellville, 64, of Myrtle Beach SC passed away on November 7, 2020 at her home surrounded by family and friends.

Sherry was predeceased by her father John Louie Brazeal. She is survived by her mother Sylvia Capps Browning of Pelzer and step-mother Kathy Brazeal of Lathrop, California; her son Eric Dustan Bellville (Kim) of Fair Play and daughter Catherine Tallie Parker of Charleston and two granddaughters Madison and Megan Bellville.

 She is survived by her siblings Johnnie Holdbrooks (Buster) of Williamston,Teresa Jiles (Dan) of Myrtle Beach, Dwight Brazeal (Sherry) of Pelzer, Mark Medlin (Karen) of Piedmont, Tracy Medlin of Pelzer, Johnny Brazeal (Regina) of Lodi, California and Lisa Brazeal Russell of Enumclaw, Washington; her fiancé Chris Burr and many loving family and friends.

A private Memorial service for family will be held at Big Creek Baptist Church in Williamston SC, on November 22, 2020 at 2:00 pm.

Dr. Ron Fousek will be officiating.

Although the loss of Sherry is immeasurable, so is the love she left behind.

Edna Redus

Edna Ruth Burgess Redus of Williamston, 83, wife of Lee Roy Redus, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Born in the Cheddar Community, she was a daughter of the late Clare Lee and Tecora Chapman Burgess. She worked at Bigelow, and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Dianne Cabaniss of Williamston, Donna Redus-Neal of Starr, and Tauna Johnson of Williamston; brothers, Vernon Burgess of Piedmont and Silas Burgess of Williamston; sisters, Pearl Thayer of Riverview, FL, Faye Lewis of Williamston, Shelby Tant of Cheddar, Shirley Cooper of Pelzer; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A cryptside service was held November 15 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Lee Redus

Lee Roy Redus of Williamston, 89, husband of the late Edna Ruth Burgess Redus, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020.

Born in Chandler, OK, he was a son of the late Writy Washington and Della Lee Byus Redus. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, a civil service electrician, and a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Dianne Cabaniss of Williamston, Donna Redus-Neal of Starr, and Tauna Johnson of Williamston; sister, Sandi Redus of Austin, TX; brothers, Ronnie Redus of Yukon, OK and Dale Redus of Newalla, OK; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A cryptside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 18 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn, and social distancing observed at all services.
