Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gregory Chandler Metz, 25, in connection with a manhunt Wednesday morning in South Greenville County. Deputies initially received a 911 call at around 7:30am regarding a subject, later identified as Metz, hooking up a camper to a Uhaul truck off Latimer Mill Road. The caller notified 911 because they believed Metz was stealing the camper. A short time later, deputies arrived on scene and made contact with Metz near Ridgeway Road and Augusta Road. According to GCSO reports, Metz pulled out an object, believe to be a firearm, and pointed it at a deputies’ head. Metz then fled in the woods and after a short track, he was located and apprehended by a Sheriff’s Office K-9. The object, believed to be a firearm, was later located and discovered to be a lighter.
Metz was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries before being taken to the Greenville County Detention Center on a charge of Grand Larceny.
