Lyman man dies after being ejected from vehicle in I85 accident

Robert Frank Beaudry, 30 of Lyman died after being ejected from a vehicle in a single vehicle accident Saturday, according to Don McCown, Senior Deputy Coroner. The accident occurred around 4:07 a.m. Nov. 28 on I-85 North around mile marker 38 in Piedmont.
According to the Coroner’s office, the investigation indicates that the decedent was a front seat passenger in a vehicle
that was traveling north on Interstate 85. The vehicle operator apparently lost control of the vehicle resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway around mm 38, striking a concrete barrier and then overturning several times. Beaudry, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle, landed in the roadway and was then struck by an 18-wheeler.

Pelzer EMS, Anderson County Fire Department, Anderson. County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

According to McCown, Pelzer EMS and Anderson County Fire personnel attempted resuscitation and transported the victim to Prisma Health in Greenville. The victim died at 4:20 a.m. due to Multiple Traumatic Injuries
Secondary to Blunt Force Trauma. The investigation is ongoing by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT Team.
