Tabitha Lyles

Tabitha Lynn Clark Lyles of Williamston, 36, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of Greg and Abby Clark of Williamston. She was employed with Five State Electric.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sons, Zachary Culp, Ryan Rodgers, and James Lyles; brother, Jamie Clark of Anderson; and grandmothers, Mary Clark of Greenville and Janie Slay of Nashville, TN.

No services will be held at this time.

Larry Regucci

Lawrence William “Larry” Regucci of Pelzer, 84, husband of Anne Culbertson Regucci, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020.

Born in Haverstraw, NY, he was a son of the late Peter Lawrence Regucci and Lillian King Ferraro. A U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, he retired as a tower crane operator, volunteered with the West Pelzer Fire Department, and was a member of Second Chance Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lauren Regucci of St. Augustine, FL; and one grandson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Peggy Bawkum

Greenville – Peggy Joyce Pittman Bawkum, 85, widow of Joseph Andrew Bawkum, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at her home.

Born in Dallas, Ga, she was a daughter of the late Claude Newton and Velma Mae McBrair Pittman.  She was a homemaker and a member of Grove Station Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, Kenny Bawkum (Lidia) of Greenville; sisters, Ina Mae Eustace of Columbus, GA, Betty Jo Hall and Jo Anna Looney, both of Piedmont; brother, Harold Pittman of Piedmont; grandchildren, Erika Danielle Bawkum and Cody Andrew Bawkum; great-grandson, Braiden Carver.

She was predeceased by a son, Richard “Ricky” Andrew Bawkum and a brother, Bobby Pittman.

The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, at Grove Station Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Mamie Barwick

Mamie Alice Waters Barwick of Williamston, 87, wife of Pastor David Walter Barwick, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020.

Born in West Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late William Franklin and Willie Christina Mahaffey Waters.  She was a teacher at a private Christian school, a singer, and an accomplished pianist.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Christianna Davida Phillips of Jessup, GA; sister, Barbara Lee of West Pelzer; brother, William F. Waters of Simpsonville; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held November 27 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

Billy “Chub” McClain

Billy Harold “Chub” McClain of Piedmont, 82, husband of Edith Vera Turner McClain, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020.

Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late John Mark and Nettie Allison McClain.  He was a self-employed auto mechanic.

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Billy Joe McClain and Randall Allen McClain all of Piedmont; sisters, Brenda McClellan of Powdersville and Juanita Mills of Georgia; and brother, Rev. Jimmy “Champ” McClain of Greer; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great- grandchildren.

A graveside service was held December 1 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Thelma McCall

Williamston – Thelma Jean Rogers McCall, 81, wife of Richard Gordon McCall, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Gladys Mae Stringer Rogers.  She was retired from Anderson School District One and a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Richard Donald McCall (Gina) of Piedmont and daughter, Angela Jean McCall Markley (Jim) of Anderson; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sisters, Sara Rogers and Marie Finley; brothers, Marvin, Cecil and John Thomas Rogers.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, at Whitefield Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.  

   The family will speak to friends following the service at the graveside.

Ruth Ann Arthurs

Ruth Ann Williams Arthurs of Taylors, 83, wife of the late David Arthurs, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020.

Born in Portsmouth, OH, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Annabelle Young Williams. Member of Bethel Calvary Baptist Church, she retired from World Wide New Testament Baptist Missions.

She is survived by a daughter, Denise Arthurs of Taylors; and a sister, Judy Bolin of Columbus, OH.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at her church.

Robin Brian Simpson

Robin Brian Simpson, 45, loving son, uncle and nephew of Piedmont, suddenly passed away November 17, 2020. He was the son of the late Wilburn and Linda Ann Smith Simpson. Robin loved video games, his fish aquarium and his job at Latitude where he was named Employee of the Year for 2019. Survivors include two nephews Donald E. Simpson and Mason Q. Simpson of Piedmont. He is survived by many   loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Robin is predeceased by his parents and a brother Donald D. Simpson. 

A memorial service was held 3pm Monday, November 23 at Mountain Springs Baptist Church, 410 Mountain Springs Road, Piedmont with the visitation following the service.

The Cremation Society of South Carolina handled the arrangements.

Roy Blackstone

James Roy Blackstone of Piedmont, 84, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Orville and Ella Mae Pittman Blackstone. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from Experimental Fabrics and was a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include, sisters, Betty Blackstone, Lillian McDonald, and Nina Satterfield; and brother, Donald Blackstone.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Brenda Lollis Blackstone.

A graveside service was held November 28, at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ruth Pruitt

Ruth Elaine Moore Pruitt of Mauldin, 75, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

Born in Sylva, NC, she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Irene Owen Moore. A member of New Hope Baptist Church in Mauldin, she retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves, having served in the Vietnam Era, and she retired as a counselor with the Vet Center of Greenville.

Survivors include daughter, Allison Pruitt Terrill of Greer; son, Michael Thomas Pruitt of Daytona Beach, FL; brother, Clifford Moore of Mauldin; sisters, Becky Kelley of Piedmont and Jo Ellen Blaine of Durham, NC; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, December 7, at 1:30 p.m. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Carroll Fricks

Williamston – Clarence Carroll Fricks, 80, husband of the late Frances Rainey Fricks, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020.

Born in Piedmont, he was the son of Thomas Clarence and Elvie Rowland Fricks. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, retired from Michelin and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Pelzer.

He is survived by daughters, Teresa Fricks Hamlett (Mike) of Charleston, Tonya Fricks of Bluffton and Tiffany Brooks (Wes) of Belton; sons, Tony Fricks (Sonja) of Belton and Tim Fricks (Brandy) of Piedmont; sisters, Martha Burgess of West Pelzer and Jayne Marsh of Spartanburg; brother, Don Fricks of Bowling Green, KY; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 pm Friday, December 4, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service will follow at 2:30 pm in the mortuary chapel.

Burial will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, December 14, at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
