Williamston Special Election will be held March 30

The Town of Williamston will hold a special election on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 to fill the Ward 2 Council seat vacated by Rockey Burgess when he took office as mayor.

Any person wishing to register to vote in the election must do so no later than February 26, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. To register, contact the Anderson County Board of Elections and Voter Registration.

Anyone desiring to be a candidate for this office may file at the Williamston Municipal Center, 12 W. Main St., Williamston. Books will be open for filing at 12:00 p.m. on January 22, 2021, and remain open during regular business hours until 12:00 p.m. on February 1, 2021.
The filing fee is $50.

The precincts involved in the election will be the portions of the Williamston Precinct, the
Williamston Mill Precinct, and the Cedar Grove Precinct inside the municipal limits of the Town of Williamston.
The polls shall open at 7:00 a.m. on said election day and close at 7:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. on election day, the poll managers will count the absentee ballot returns.

On Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the
Williamston Municipal Center, 12 W. Main St., Williamston, SC 29697, the Municipal Election
Commission will hold a hearing to determine the validity of ballots challenged in this election. Any runoff will be held two weeks after the election on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
