Filing for the vacant District Two County Council seat, formerly held by Gracie Floyd (deceased) ended last Saturday, leaving seven Democrats and a lone Republican signed up for the seat.
The seven Democrats, Glenn A. Davis, Micah B. Jenkins, Arsenio M. Walker, Willie J. Day, Reginald A. Davis, Marian A. Robinson, and Debbie D. Leverette, will meet in a special primary on March 30. So many candidates almost certainly assures a runoff, which, if needed, will be scheduled later.
The lone Republican, Christopher David Standard, ran against Floyd last November and was handily defeated. He will advance unopposed to the special election scheduled for June 1.
