Lynn Rainey Cartee, Elizabeth Spruell, Barry Sammons, Jeremiah Dale Kanea, Jean Squires

Jean Squires

Jean Squires, 67, of Pelzer, passed away on March 25, 2021. She was the daughter of the late William O’Neal Richardson and Lois Vernelle Oxner, born in Lexington, SC, on March 29, 1953. She is survived by her partner Ron Senchuk, two daughters Ashley Squires and Megan Squires-Brewer. She was of the Christian faith. 

Jeremiah Dale Kanea 

Jeremiah Dale Kanea, age 41, of Williamston, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at his home. 

Born June 7, 1979 in Providence, RI, he was the son of Barbara Martin Kanea and the late Richard Neil Kanea. 

He was employed with Eugen Wexler.  

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Tabitha Loftis Kanea; son, Nolan Kanea; brother, Nathan Kanea; and sister, Jamison Kanea. 

The family received friends March 26 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service followed in the Chapel.

Barry Sammons

Barry Dean Sammons of Williamston, 54, husband of Donna Sammons, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of Peggy Taylor (David) of Anderson and the late Roger Lane Sammons. He was a U.S. Army veteran and formerly employed with Culp Woven Velvets in Anderson.  

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Amber Sammons Rumsey of Williamston; honorary daughter, Tiffanie Huskey of Belton; brothers, Rickey Sammons and Jason Sammons, all of Anderson; honorary brother, Bobby Beasley of Belton; three grandchildren and three honorary grandchildren.

He was predeceased by sister, Melinda Sammons; and brother, Frankie Sammons.

Visitation was March 29 at Gray Mortuary.

 The service was held March 30 in the mortuary chapel with Masonic Rites. Burial followed at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with military honors.

The family is at the home of Bobby Beasley, 1326 Mill St. Ext., Belton.

Elizabeth Spruell

Anderson – Leila Elizabeth Coker Spruell, 95, formerly of Pelzer, wife of the late James Newton Spruell, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Ernest C. and Leila Hindman Coker. She retired from Oxford of Belton and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church, where she served as WMU Director, Matron Sunday School Class Teacher, and Church Treasurer for numerous years.

She is survived by Godchildren, Mike and Betty Smith of Williamston.

   She was predeceased by a sister, Ernestine C. Kelly.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Creek Baptist Church, 820 South Hamilton Street, Williamston, SC 29697.

Pelzer -Lynn Rainey Cartee, 64, wife of the late Michael Clyde Cartee, passed away Friday. March 26, 2021.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Larry Earle “Bud”Rainey, Sr. (Gatha) of Williamston and Shelby Fricks Carey (Charles) of Williamston. She was of Baptist gaith.

She is survived by sons Michael Lee Cartee (Annette) of Pelzer. Stephen Lynn Cartee (Kathy) of Williamston, Sarah Rainey Cartee of Pelzer; brother, Larry Earle Rainey, Jr. (Marie) of Williamston, Terri Finley West (Brad) of Belton; Step sisters Cindy Carey Hopkins (Ronnie) of Anderson, Amanda Carey Daugherty (Jim) of Pawleys Island, Denise Lollis (John) of Williamston.

10 grandchildren, sixgreat-grandchildren.
