Susan Peterson

Susan Fooshe Peterson of Pelzer, 72, wife of James Bennett Peterson, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021.

Born in Abbeville, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Elma Holsonback Fooshe.  She retired from the Greenville Hospital System and was a member of Washington Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Susan Marina Lane of Mountville, Shannon Smothers of Greenville, Heather Bolick of Waterloo; sons, James Kenneth Brown, II of Pickens and James G. Peterson of Pelzer; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, at Washington Baptist Church with burial following at Graceland Cemetery West.

Dickie Wingo

Milford Dickie Wingo of Simpsonville, 74, husband of Linda Mitchell Wingo, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021.

Born in Greer, he was the son of the late Milford Sinclair and Margaret Bennett Wingo. He retired from Hartness International.

He is survived by his wife. Visitation was held on May 3 at Gray Mortuary. A graveside service followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Jessie Donald

Jessie O. Harris Donald of Anderson, 92, widow of Mendel Harris, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at her home.

Born in the Cheddar Community, she was a daughter of the late Barney Avery and Lessie Pearson Owens. She retired from BASF.

Survivors include granddaughter, Mistie Harris; three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Betty Kellett

Williamston – Betty Jane Chapman Guthrie Kellett, 90, wife of the late James Young Kellett, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021.

   She was twice married, first to the late Wilton H. Guthrie.

Born in Pelzer she was a daughter of the late Broadus Grover “Bill” and Lillie Lee Spearman Chapman. She retired from Cincinnati Milacron and was a charter member of West Pelzer Baptist Church. 

She is survived by daughter, Wanda Sutherland (Steve) of West Pelzer; step-son, Butch Kellett (Kay) of Simpsonville; sister, Sarah Frances Martin of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Owens (Allen), Justin Kellett, Lauren Brown (Roy), Bo Pitts, Toby Pitts (Shellie), Jenna Holcombe (Brian), Kara Acevedo (Andres); and eleven great-grandchildren, Cameren, Brylee, Hollyn, Hagan, Ethan, Jeanine, Nora, Tilly, Tristan, Lilly, and Hailey.

   She was predeceased by son, Wilton Anthony “Tony” Guthrie; step-daughter, Patsy Kellett Pitts; and brothers, Broadus and Larry Chapman.

   Those that would like to pay their respects may do so Thursday, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends following the service.

Lucille Robinson

Belton – Frances Lucille Crawford Robinson, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

She was born on February 15, 1926 in Anderson County to the late Joe Stacy and Lillie Mae Ellison Crawford. Lucille was a graduate of Williamston High School, class of 1943 and retired from Gerber Childrenswear (formerly the Kendall Company) in Pelzer. Lucille loved traveling with Christian Tours, and she also worked for a few years at Wilson’s 5 and Dime Store in Belton. She loved being with people.

A member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church since 1938, she formerly taught Sunday school, worked with GA’s/Acteens, sang in the choir, and worked in the church office. Her mission study group of ladies met at her home for Bible study and lunch. Lucille was also on the social committee for the Senior dinners. She loved to cook.

Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, and great-grandmother. She was deeply loved by her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Summit Place, NHC in Anderson, and hospice nurses from Caris Healthcare in Anderson.

Lucille is survived by a son, Steve Robinson (Donna) of Piedmont; daughters, Marsha Caldwell (Jim) of Aiken, Jan Albers (Arden) of Arvada, CO, and Joanie Pate (Michael) of Monroe, NC; sister, Eunice Fields of Belton; six grandchildren, Patrick Caldwell (Sonya), Lindsay Bishop (Greg), Amy Albers, Megan Pate, Stefani and Anna Kay Robinson; and three great-grandchildren, Emma and Nathan Caldwell; and Gregory Bishop.

   She was predeceased by her loving husband, Johnny Vanburen Robinson; son, John Earle Robinson; two brothers, Melvin and Lee Crawford; five sisters, Bobbie Alewine, Margaret McCullough, Jean Martin, Jane Motes, and Frankie Bridges.

   Those that would like to pay their respects may do so Thursday, May 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

   Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing observed.
