Williamston man arrested in Dollar General shooting

Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Corey Jerome Daniel, 43, 173 Cherokee Rd, Williamston in connection with the shooting death of Dallas Rosemond that occurred Tuesday night in the parking lot of Dollar General, 9538 Augusta Road.

During the course of the investigation, GCSO investigators learned that Daniel and the victim were familiar with each other and had an ongoing issue with one another prior to the incident taking place. According to reports, Investigators learned that at around 8:30 pm, Daniel was sitting in a vehicle that was parked in the Dollar General Parking lot when the victim pulled up and got out of his car. Upon noticing each other Daniel and Rosemond began exchanging words. The victim walked towards Daniel’s car, and as he did, Daniel pulled out a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun and fired, striking Rosemond at least one time. Daniel then fled the scene.

Rosemond was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. While conducting their investigation, investigators were able to identify Daniel as the suspect. He turned himself in to the Williamston Police Department.

GCSO Investigators have since taken custody of Daniel and charged him with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. He is currently in the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
