Williamston Mayor Rockey Burgess announced this week that David Huff has been named Chief of the Williamston Fire Department.
“Effective June 28th, David Huff will become full-time Chief of the Williamston Fire Department. David is a dedicated professional with a safety-focused approach and broad experience leading firefighting operations and administrative initiatives,” Mayor Burgess said. “His experience training and leading a team, building relationships, and working collaboratively will be assets as he continues the tradition of excellence within the Williamston Fire Department.”

“The Town of Williamston extends a huge thank you to Interim-Chief Timmy Heatherly for leading the department through the last few months – our town will be forever grateful,” Burgess said.

Huff will be the town’s first paid full time fire chief. A part-time paid position at the fire department was created before former Mayor Mack Durham left office. The position was filled at the request of former Chief Steve Ellison.

Ellison, Williamston’s longtime Fire Chief, past away unexpectedly in early April.
