Motorcycle driver dies from injuries – Hwy. 29

Whitefield firefighters along with Medshore Ambulance Service personnel work at the scene of a motorcycle wreck Sunday night on Hwy 29 at Welcome Road. A pickup truck was struck broadside by the motorcycle and the cyclist was ejected trough the rear side window into the backseat of the truck. The cyclist was flown to the hospital by LifeFlight. He died at the hospital.

The Anderson County Office of the Coroner has identified the victim as Robert Frank Sopolosky, 27.

According the the SC Hwy. Patrol, the accident happened around 9 p.m. on Sunday as the motorcycle was driving north on US 29 and the driver of the Chevrolet truck was on Welcome Road, crossing US 29.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported by helicopter to Prisma Greenville. He later died around 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 27.

According to SCHP, the driver of the truck is charged with failure to yield the right-of-way.

The investigation is remains under investigation by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
