COVID cases are on the increase over the holiday period. On Thursday, Dec. 23, DHEC reported 1,466 new COVID cases and 754 probable cases of COVID-19. There were 15,694 molecular test results reported with 11.1 percent positive. DHEC is not reporting which variant of the coronavirus is being found, but from other reports, the OMICRON variant appears to be the dominant strain.
DHEC did not release COVID-19 data Friday, Dec. 24 – Tuesday, Dec. 28 in observance of the Christmas holiday and the next report for the period Wednesday, Dec. 22 – Monday, Dec. 27 is scheduled to be released on Dec. 29.

Anderson County reported 60 new cases and 24 probable cases. Greenville County reported 181 new, 47 probable and 3 deaths.
As of Dec. 22, there were 576 COVID patients in hospitals across the state with 175 in ICU and 83 on ventilators. Anderson County had 56 COVID patients in the hospital with 18 in ICU and 8 on ventilators. Greenville County had 83 COVID patients in hospitals with 33 in ICU and 18 on ventilators.
On Dec. 22 – Anderson County reported 27 new cases and 25 probable cases. Greenville County reported 115 new and 25 probable.
On Dec. 21 – Anderson County reported 40 new, 24 probable and 1 COVID related death. Greenville County reported 100 new cases, 25 probable cases and 2 deaths.
On Dec. 20 – Anderson County reported 35 new cases and 20 probable cases.
Greenville County reported 141 new cases and 22 probable cases.
On Dec. 19 – Anderson County reported 49 new cases and 19 probable cases. and 2 COVID related deaths. Greenville County reported 119 new cases,30 probable cases and 6 COVID related deaths.
Dec. 18 – Anderson County reported 35 new cases and 33 probable cases. Greenville County reported 104 new cases and 27 probable cases.
Dec. 17 – Anderson County reported 56 new cases, 18 probable cases a 1 death. Greenville County reported 123 new cases, 41 probable cases and 1 death.
Dec. 16 – Anderson County reported 31 new cases, 14 probable cases and 1 death. Greenville County reported 102 new cases, 38 probable and 3 COVID related deaths.
