SCDHEC Update -COVID cases hit daily high during holidays

 Daily cases numbers of COVID-19 hit a high on Wednesday (Dec. 29) midway between the Christmas and New Year holidays.

On Dec. 31 (for Dec. 29) DHEC reported 6,319 new cases and 2,563 probable new cases of COVID. There were 14 deaths and 5 probable deaths related to COVID. 29,942 molecular test results were reported with 25.6 percent positive.
Anderson County reported 264 new cases, 34 probable cases and 2 COVID related deaths.
Greenville County reported 854 new cases, 221 probable cases and 1 probable death.
Richland County led the state with new cases at 1020 and 307 probable cases.On Dec. 30 – As of Tues. (Dec. 28), DHEC reported 3,354 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2,557 probable cases, for a total of 5,911 new cases in South Carolina. DHEC also reported 9 new confirmed deaths and 1 probable death related to COVID-19. There were 22,116 molecular test results reported with a percent positive rate of 20.5%.
Anderson County reported 128 new, 52 probable and 1 death.
Greenville County reported 576 new cases, 205 probable and 1 death.

According to DHEC, 60.2% of all eligible South Carolina residents ages five and up have received at least one coronavirus vaccine dose, and 51.8% of eligible residents are fully vaccinated.

DHEC did not release COVID-19 data between Friday, Dec. 24 – Tuesday, Dec. 28 due to the Christmas holiday. The next report for Wednesday, Dec. 22 – Monday, Dec. 27 was released on Wed., Dec. 29.

Dec. 29 (for Dec. 27) – DHEC reported 1,950 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,441 probable cases, for a total of 3,391 new cases. DHEC also reported 5 new deaths and 2 probable deaths due to COVID-19.
DHEC reported 11,252 molecular test results from the latest testing period, with a percent positive rate of 23.8%.

For Dec. 27 – DHEC reported 1,950 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,441 probable cases, for a total of 3,391 new cases. DHEC also reported 5 new confirmed deaths and 2 probable deaths related to COVID-19. DHEC reported 11,252 molecular test results with a percent positive rate of 23.8%.
Anderson County reported 65 new cases and 32 probable new cases.
Greenville County reported 301 new and 99 probable new cases.

For Dec. 26 – Anderson County reported 33 new cases and 1 probable new.
Greenville County reported 200 new cases and 6 probable new cases.
Reported Dec. 29 (for Dec. 25) – Anderson County reported 94 new and 21 probable new.
Greenville County reported 303 new and 24 probable new.

For Dec. 24 – Anderson County reported 135 new, 19 probable new cases, 1 death and 1 probable death. Greenville County reported 316 new cases, 66 probable cases and 5 COVID related deaths.
