Robert N. Wilson

Robert Nathan Wilson of Pelzer, 81, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Arthur Nathan and Verna May Hayes Wilson.  He retired from Sara Lee Bakery.

Survivors include daughters, Connie Faye Wilson and Sandra Renee Neely; brothers, Danny, Donald and Mike Wilson; two grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time.

Andy Smith

 Grady Wesley “Andy” Smith of Williamston, 67, husband of the late Marilyn Darlene Cothran Smith, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022.

   Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Henry George and Donna Reynolds Smith. He retired from Goodman Conveyor Company in Belton.

He is survived by daughters, Amanda L. Gillette and Kimberly Smith, both of Williamston; son, Donnie Smith of Williamston; sister, Clara Blanche Lindley of FL; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, with the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Due to Covid-19, it is suggested that masks be worn and social distancing observed.

Mary Drake

Mary Drake of Williamston, passed away Feb. 8, 2022. 

She was born August 13, 1932. Her late husband was Alvin Drake.

She was predeceased by a son, David Ray Gosnell.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Gosnell.

The family will not be receiving friends and no services are planned.

Sarah Taylor

Sarah Sylvia Luker “MeMa” Taylor of Piedmont, 95, wife of the late Kelly Washington Taylor, Jr., passed away Friday, February 11, 2022.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Naomi Hughes Luker. She was a homemaker and a member of Grove Station Baptist Church. 

Survivors include  daughters, Sandra Alverson of Pelzer and Kellene Beasley of Piedmont; son, Mike Taylor of Piedmont; six grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was February 15 at Gray Mortuary, with the funeral following in the mortuary chapel.

Burial will be at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Grove Station Baptist Church, 640 Piedmont Highway, Piedmont, SC 29673.

Joan Cantrell

Williamston – Frances Joan Ashley Cantrell, 92, wife of the late Charles Ralph Cantrell, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late John Gary and Helen Fisher Ashley. Mrs. Cantrell earned a bachelor’s degree from Erskine College and a master’s degree from Appalachian State University. For over thirty years she taught in Anderson County School District One and retired as librarian from Spearman Elementary School. She was also a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.

Survivors include a cousin, Pascal Brock and his wife, Judy, of Lugoff; nephews; great, great-great, and great-great-great-nieces and nephews on the Cantrell side.

A cryptside service was held Sunday, February 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, with visitation following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1904 Beaverdam Road, Williamston, SC 29697, or to Mount Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2603 Due West Highway, Belton, SC 29627.

Bruce Culbertson

Tony Bruce Culbertson of Belton, Jr., 46, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Teresa Howington of Moore, SC.

He is survived by brother, James Culbertson of Moore.

A graveside service was held February 15 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Mary Rebecca Drake

Mary Rebecca Drake of Williamston, 89, passed away Tuesday, February 8th, 2022. She was the wife of the late Pete Drake.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Gosnell, Sr., and Minnie Thompson Gosnell.

She was predeceased by her son David Ray Gosnell and her grandson David Allen Gosnell.

Survivors are six grandchildren, Julie Gosnell, Jennifer Gosnell, Tammy, Kenny, Johnny and Charlotte. She had 14 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Williamston Pentecostal Holiness Church.

David L Waters of Lexington, SC, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022

He graduated from Palmetto High School in 1956.

Memorial service to be held on February 19th at 2:00 PM at Beaverdam Baptist Church, Williamston, SC
