West Pelzer approves ARPA project funding

West Pelzer Town Council held a Strategic Planning Session last Friday, (Feb. 11) to discuss possible projects to be paid for with (ARPA) American Rescue Plan Act funding. The town is receiving $235,480.19 from the program. Council approved 16 projects to be done in two phases.
Phase One projects include: Building Upgrades; Upgrade of PCs/server; Wifi extender and additional cameras; Meter Upgrade; Landscaping for Main Street; Crosswalk/Intersection Signage/Lights; Demo of Spring/Smith Street property; Employee Reimbursement for COVID Expense; Fire Hydrant replacement; Irrigation for sewer plant and lift stations; Planning and Zoning Updates and Revenue Reimbursement.
Phase Two will include Ipads for councilmembers; Personal Utility Vehicles for police department and public works department; Water Tank Paintings, Shop/Storage and a Recycling Center.
Following the work session. Council held a Special Called meeting to approve a resolution to appropriate the funds for the projects.
