Opal Morehead, Roy Dean Martin, Christian Carter, Lafayette George Elrod

Lafayette George Elrod 

Lafayette George Elrod, 90, husband of Nan Jacqueline Brown Elrod, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at his home.

Born in Piedmont, a son of the late J. Samuel Elrod and the late Loche Bell Elrod. He was  in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Department of Health and Environmental Control. He was a founding member of Grace Bible Church in Greenville.

Surviving, in addition to his wife are a son, George Anthony Elrod of Piedmont; a daughter, Angela Theresa Elrod of Piedmont; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Private entombment will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Traditions Health Hospice, 10 Enterprise Blvd., Suite 202, Greenville, SC 29615.

Christian Carter

Christian Trenton Carter of Piedmont, infant son of Daniel Trenton and Jessica Starr Davis Carter, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

In addition to his parents, survivors include siblings, Eli Trenton Carter, Cameran Trenton Carter, Xavier Trenton Carter, and Sky Starr Carter, all of the home; grandparents, Melanie and Kenneth Luker of Piedmont and Stevie and Donna Davis of Williamston; and great-grandmother Vennie Davis of Williamston.

No services will be held at this time.

Roy Dean Martin 

Pelzer- Mr. Roy Dean Martin, 77, husband of Linda Jo Ann Ricketts Martin, of Cherokee Rd, died Wednesday March 9,2022 at AnMed Medical Center.

He was born July 5, 1944, in Anderson County to the late Thomas Crocker and Helen Pauline Vanador Martin. He was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church in Williamston and was retired from Electrolux Manufacturing plant.

He was a former member of Timeless Devotion, he loved to travel, and a big fan of Wren Athletics.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 59 years, is a son Gary (Patricia) Martin of Spartanburg, sister Helen Darlene Reid, grandchildren Brandon and Megan Martin, Cody McDade, and great grandchildren Emma Martin and Kayleigh Smith.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 PM at Beaverdam Baptist Church cemetery with Rev Steve Ricketts officiating. 

The family is at the home and received friends following the burial. 

Cox Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. 

Opal Morehead

Piedmont – Opal Olita Elrod Morehead, 93, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late James Trueman and Willie Mattie Brown Elrod.  She worked for Jeff Richardson Insurance and Real Estate Company for 30 years and retired from E. C. Industries.  She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

She is survived by son, Mike Morehead of Piedmont; sister, Margaret Durham of Piedmont; grandchildren, Patrick Morehead and Meredith Rigdon; and great-grandchildren, Luke Rigdon, Reagan Rigdon, and Hope Morehead.

She was predeceased by sisters, Frances Attaway and Allowe Elrod.

A graveside service was held Sunday, March 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family greeted friends following the service.
