Jane Williams

Betty Jane Ruff Williams of Belton, 82, wife of the late Kenneth Lamar Williams, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022.

Born in Ninety Six, she was a daughter of the late John Daniel and Nettie Christine Leopard Ruff. She was formerly employed with Oxford Industries and was a member of Eastview Baptist Church in Belton.

Survivors include daughters, Robin W. Jacky of Anderson, Cindy R. Giles of Dawsonville, GA and Dee A. Cox of Anderson; sister, Pat Coker of Belton; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

   The funeral will be held Monday, April 25, at 2:00 p.m. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with visitation to follow.

Elaine Stewart

Elaine Burrell Stewart of Piedmont, 81, widow of James Wesley Stewart, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Porter Willard and Jennie Lee Spearman Burrell.  She retired from Union Carbide/Kemet and was a lifelong member of Piedmont United Methodist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Daniel Buckhiester of Pickens; sons, J. Michael Stewart of Piedmont and Paul A. Stewart of Greenville; son by love, Shawn V. Matalino of Piedmont; one granddaughter.

A graveside service was held Saturday, April 9, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Cindy McNeely

Cynthia “Cindy” Diane Mitchell McNeely, of Piedmont, 63, wife of Raymond Eugene McNeely, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022, at her home.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Willie Ray Mitchell and Bobbie Kathleen Finley Carnes. She was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens in Piedmont and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Mitchell Eugene McNeely of Williamston and Jessie Scott McNeely of the home; sister, Tammy Stone of Greenville; and grandson.

The family will receive friends 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at    Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the McNeely Cemetery in Powdersville.

Janice Johnson

Carolyn Janice Wood Johnson of Piedmont, 89, wife of the late Billy Joe Johnson, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

Born in Elberton, GA, she was a daughter of the late Julius Monteville “Mont” and Ethel Stovall Wood. She retired from American Federal Bank. She was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church. 

She is survived by son, Billy Stephen Johnson of Orange Beach, AL; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren,  and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was April 8 at West Gantt First Baptist Church social hall. The service followed at the church. Burial was at Grove Station Baptist Church Cemetery.
