Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Owen will be held at Liberty Memorial Gardens, Friday, April 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM conducted by Reverend Carlton Cleveland. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Liberty Mortuary.

Barbara “Jane” Galloway Owen, 72, of Blue Ridge Drive, passed away peacefully,Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at NHC Healthcare of Anderson. Born in Pelzer, she was the widow of Clyde Terry “Ted” Owen and a daughter of the late Tillman Hope and Elizabeth Jane Boyce Galloway. 

She was retired from the School District of Pickens County where she taught at several schools. Most recently as the special education teacher at Pickens High School. She enjoyed shagging and cooking, but mostly spending time with her family. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Kelley McCullough (Johnny) of Pelzer; a son, Zachary Owen (Teresa) of Liberty; a brother, Tim Galloway of Williamston; five grandchildren, Karsen McCullough, Haygen McCullough Johnston(Drew), OwenGrace McCullough, Payten McCullough and Duncan Owen; and one great-grandchild, Mollie Marie Johnston.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Foundation For Geriatric Education, PO Box 1327, Anderson SC 29622.

Charles Ellenburg

Charles Lewis Ellenburg of West Pelzer, 95, husband of Mamie Jean Whitt Ellenburg, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Vernon M. and Willie Lenoir Machugh Ellenburg. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Williamston First Baptist Church. CWO Charles Ellenburg also retired from the U.S. Army in 1969, having served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was West Pelzer’s oldest living WWII veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Mona Lin Hansbrough of Charlotte, NC; sister, Nancy Schaefer of Orangevale, CA; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson.

Jake Kinman

Jacob “Jake” Alexander Kinman of Williamston, 29, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at his home.

Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, he was a son of Orlando Botello and Christine Noelle Kinman Botello.

In addition to his father of the home and mother of Maryland, he is survived by brothers, Christopher Kinman of Greenville and Charles Botello of Florida.

Brenda Davis

Brenda Joyce Bennett Davis of Easley, 80, wife of the late Joe Edward Davis, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Cecil Taylor Bennett. She was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Easley.

She is survived by daughter, Cindy Coleman of Greenville; son, Joey Davis of Saluda; five grandchildren  and nine great-grandchildren.

 The family will have a private graveside service at a later date.

Derrill Rogers

Pelzer – Derrill Keith Rogers, 85, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Furman Eugene and Minnie Lee Mullikin Rogers. A graduate of Clemson University, he retired from Anderson County School District One as a teacher and he was a Baptist. Derrill loved gardening, his daylilies, and running cows.

He is survived by a brother, Larry Monroe Rogers of the home; sister, Wilda Glen Rogers Turner of Williamston; nephew, Jackie Lee Turner (Connie) of Pelzer; great-nephews, Will Whitt (fiancé, Jessica Sellers) of Cheddar; great-niece, Brittany Miller (Shawn) of Pelzer; and great-great-nephew, Maverick Miller of Pelzer.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Aubrey Arnett Rogers.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 19, at 11:30 a.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.

Those who paid their respects did so Monday, April 18, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

The family will be at the home of Will Whitt, 435 Mize Road, Belton, SC, 29627.

Ann Turpin

Elizabeth Ann Spearman Blackstone Turpin of Pelzer, 78, wife of Richard Dale Turpin, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022, at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Dean and Ida Parker Spearman.  She retired from J.P. Stevens and Martin’s Nursery and was a member of the Ware Place Church of God.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Deana Ann Blackstone of Williamston, and Freda Hall of Walhalla; son, Dino Turpin of Walhalla; granddaughter, Samantha Kirby of Simpsonville; grandchildren reared in the home, Candace Jenkins of Charlotte, NC, and Timothy Ellison of Clinton; sister, Dot Anders of Lowndesville; and brother, Jack Spearman of West Pelzer; seventeen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation was April 18 at Ware Place Church of God, with the service following.

Don Allison

Donald Howard “Don” Allison of Piedmont, 78, husband of Linda Drake Smith, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Jessie D. “J.D.” Allison, Jr. and Vashtye Chambers Allison. He retired from Apparatus Co Inc., in Greenville. 

Survivors include daughter, Jan Finnical of Murrells Inlet; son, Mark Allison of Little Mountain; stepchildren, Jeffery Smith of Piedmont, Sherry Jenkins of Charleston, and Lindsey Loftis of Pelzer; brothers, Morgan, David, Larry, and Dennis Allison; sister, Bonnie Owens, all of Piedmont; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation was held April 15 at Gray Mortuary. The funeral followed in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Shiloh United Methodist Church.

James Bobby “Jim” Wilson of Piedmont, 72, husband of Phyllis Wilson, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Born in Powdersville, he was a son of the late Bobby Bruce and Grace Elizabeth Attaway Wilson. rator of J.B. Wilson Construction, LLC and a member of Mount Airy Baptist Church. .

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Robyn Pagington of Westfield, IN, Jenny Wilson of Birmingham, AL, and Dana Swartz of Ten Mile, TN; and two grandchildren.

Visitation was held April 16 at Mount Airy Baptist Church. The funeral followed at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Gladys Banks

Gladys Ada Lee Rhodes Banks of Piedmont, 97, wife of the late Kay Osborne Banks, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022.

   Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Mac Duff and Ada Martin Rhodes. She retired from Milliken Cushman Plant and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church, Piedmont.

She is survived by daughter, Gloria Clunan of the home; sons, Kenneth Banks of Statesville, NC and Max Banks of Waller, TX; and three grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, April 20, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with visitation to follow the service at the grave.

Joel Crawford

Pelzer – Joel Matthew Crawford, 41, husband of Dana Fowler Crawford, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of James William Crawford, Sr. and Jennifer Amelia Capps Crawford of Pelzer.  He was employed by the Greenville County School District as a HVAC tech.

In addition to his parents, and wife, he is survived by brothers, Rev. Jamie Crawford (Gina) of Pelzer, and Josh Crawford (Cherilyn) of Pelzer; sister, Jill Ford of Pelzer; brother-in-law, Daniel Fowler (Taylor) of Williamston; nieces, Ivy Ford, Bayleigh Madden, EllaKate and Sadler Fowler; and nephew, Max Ford; and mother-in-law and husband, Rev. Trenton and Kay Fowler Connelly of Williamston.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 19, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Cohen Davidson

Piedmont – Homer Cohen Davidson, Jr., 90, husband of Katherine Eugenia Green Davidson, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Homer Cohen Davidson, Sr. and Amanda Evelyn Hembree Davidson. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Korean War and retired from J.B. Green Trucking Company. Mr. Davidson was a mason as well as a member of White Plains Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Susan Hawkins (Butch) and Cathy Bayne, both of Williamston, Edwina Dorsey (John) and Dawn Modzel (Greg), both of Piedmont; sister, Harriett Davidson; brother, Richard Davidson, both of Belton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by sisters, Sara Trotter and Annie Dill.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the home.

A graveside service will be Friday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
