The Anderson County Coroner’s Office is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Wednesday night around 10:20 pm on Old Greenville Highway (Hwy. 88) near Pendleton. Medshore EMS, Anderson County EMS, Anderson County Fire Department and South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Brent Simpson identified the deceased victim as Christian Brewer, 25, of Liberty. According to Simpson, Brewer died as a result of a head injury secondary to blunt force trauma after crashing his motorcycle into a utility pole. He was not wearing a helmet.

According to the coroner’s office, the investigation indicates that the motorcycle was traveling west on Old Greenville Highway towards Pendleton and apparently lost control of the motorcycle after it “dipped” off a newly paved section of the road way into the opposite lane that was not paved. The driver apparently lost control when he tried to maneuver the motorcycle back on to the paved section of roadway.

The incident remains under investigation by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
