James “Jaby” Childress, III

Piedmont – James Benjamin “Jaby” Childress, III, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late James Benjamin Childress, Jr. and Margaret Teccola Clark Childress. He retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle.

He is survived by sisters, Carolyn Bell (Charles) of Piedmont and Susan Payne of Pelzer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Grover, Arnold, and Alton Childress.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 6, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle, 10 North Circle Drive, Piedmont, SC 29673.

The family will be at the home of Amy Bell, 1323 Shiloh Church Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.

Norman Graham

Norman Daryl Graham of Piedmont, 77, husband of Martha Kay Wingate Graham, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022.

Born in Cool Springs, SC, he was the son of the late Norman Daniel and Elizabeth “Betty” Ravon Graham. He retired from PET Dairy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Trisha Graham of Greenville, Jennifer Standridge of Easley, Donna Moore of Pickens, and Tammy Hendrix of Chippewa Falls, WI; sisters, Opal Janice Cantatore of Fountain Inn and Jacqueline Wilson of Detroit, MI; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

   A graveside service was held August 1, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Robert Fleming

Robert Dwane Fleming of Belton, 85, husband of the late Thelma Ruth Crawford, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022.

   Born in Abbeville County, he was the son of the late Bert and Ola Todd Fleming.  He retired from Bi-Lo after 30 years of service as a truck driver and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

   He is survived by sons, Robert Tony Fleming of Belton and Jeffrey Todd Fleming of Honea Path; brothers, Elmer Fleming of Abbeville, and Louie Fleming of Abbeville; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 The family received friends July 31 at Riverside Baptist Church, and the service followed. Burial was at Daventon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ken Lusk

Pelzer – Riley Kenneth “Ken” Lusk, 76, husband of Judy Delane Rhodes Lusk, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Riley Mason and Nellie Gambrell Lusk. He retired from AAA Mechanical and was an avid farmer all of his life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Chris Lusk (Hanchy) Raeford, NC and Richard Rhodes (Melissa) of Greenwood; daughter, Rhonda Cantrell (Russ) of Greenwood; brothers, Gerald Lusk (Macy), John Lusk (Brenda), and Ray Lusk, all of Pelzer; sister, Lucille Rhodes of Piedmont; grandchildren, Liam Lusk, Elizabeth Mycko, Matthew Rhodes, and Alex Rhodes; and great-grandchild, Scarlett Rhodes.

He was predeceased by son, Charles Rhodes; and sisters, Betty Johnson and Estelle Henderson.

Visitation was from 12:00 to 1:00 pm Monday, August 1, in the mausoleum chapel of Greenville Memorial Gardens. The service was held at 1:00 pm in the mausoleum chapel with burial following.

Tim Smith

Timothy Michael “Tim” Smith, Sr., husband of Diane Saylors Smith, of Easley, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022.

   Born in Hartford CT, he was a son of the late Robert John Smith and Geraldine Leona Morrill Smith.  He was owner and operator of Furnace Rebuilders, Inc. and was a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, Pelzer.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Valerie Rhoton of Catawba County, NC, and Terri Corenau of Lincolnton, NC; son, Timothy “Jr.” Smith, of Denver, NC; step-son, Michael Keeler of Honea Path; step-daughter, Rene’ Crompton of Belton; siblings, Bob, Danny, and Chuck Smith, Rosemary Gagnon, Gerry Smith, and Cheryl St. Laurent; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family received friends August 2 at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, with a memorial service following at noon.

William C. Crawford, Jr.

William Clarence Crawford, Jr., 90, husband of the late Betty Irene Durham Crawford, of Williamston, passed away Monday, August 1, 2022.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late William Clarence Crawford, Sr. and Virginia Lee Powell Crawford.  He retired from Sears and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.  He was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.

Survivors include best friend, Margaret Vaughn of Williamston; great niece, Makenzie Frank and great nephew, Joshua Douglas Durham, both raised in the home; nephew, Keith Durham of Williamston; brothers, Bill Crawford of Williamston and Steve Crawford of Anderson; and sisters, Virginia Hickey of Anderson and Barbara Ann Hoff of Florida.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson with visitation to follow the service.

Tammy Winburn

Tammy Ruth James Winburn of Pelzer, 60, wife of Robert Bruce Winburn, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022.

   Born in Williamston, she was the daughter of Rev. Ralph Edward James, Sr. and Geneva Faye Webb James. She was the manager of Haven of Rest Ministries in Williamston and a member of Restoration Chapel where she was the Children’s Director.

   In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by son, Rev. Robert Bruce “Bobby” Winburn, II of Williamston: brother, Ralph Edward “Eddie” James, Jr. of Pelzer; three grandchildren.

The family received friends Tuesday, August 2, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, with the service following at 3:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.  Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

   Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Restoration Chapel Children’s Ministry, 1000 South Academy Street Ext., Williamston, SC  29697.
