Anderson County Council to approve $55 million bond for new jail

Anderson County Council will hold a Special Called Meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, to hold third reading on an Ordinance authorizing Anderson County to enter into an installment purchase transaction to provide for the construction, reconstruction, acquisition, installation, renovation, and equipping of a new detention facility.

The ordinance authorizes the issuance of bonds not exceeding $55,000,000 by the Anderson County Detention Facilities Corporation.

The architectural jail designs will be presented to Council at an earlier meeting held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Both meetings will be at the Historic Court House.
